Square Enix announced its final quarter revenue of 2020

We have seen all the major companies release their financial year earnings for the year 2020. Due to the current pandemic, the tech industry has seen drastic changes in their growth. With most of the companies gaining better than expected, the tech market has seen an excessive increase in their profits.

Now, Square Enix has released its financial data for quarter four of 2020. The game-developer reported a total of 31.7 billion yen (~US$307 million) in operating income. However, only about 16 billion yen (~$155 million) is reported as profit.

According to sources, the company’s mobile or browser-based games, including Dragon Quest Walk, War Of The Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, and Dragon Quest Tact, are responsible for the growth of the company. However, it is worth noting that these games are scheduled to be launched on Android and iOS worldwide by next year.

The company also reported that its console and/or PC releases of many of its exclusive titles contributed more to its earnings. Square Enix claimed that Marvel’s Avengers game and Final Fantasy VII remake contributed to its net sales and final profits. Also, merchandising based on its characters and IP also was a driving factor in its operating income growth year-on-year.

The quarter four-year earnings of 2020 look extremely promising. But not everything was good news for the company in 2020. the company’s interests in public amusement arcades in Japan suffered thanks to lockdown conditions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, the company has suffered due to the pandemic in several ways. But the companies gaming division has been making several significant earnings. With the pandemic, the increase in digital gaming has increased. With the launch of next-gen consoles by Microsoft and Sony, the game developers will soon see more profits.

Android devices must be upgraded above Nougat to access secure web

With the increase in cybercrimes and growing online bugs, users of android OS might want to upgrade their Android phones before visiting large portions of the secure web. According to sources, Certificate Authority Let’s Encrypt is issuing a warning to phone phones running Android versions before 7.1.1 Nougat. It won’t trust its root certificate starting in 2021, locking them out of many secure websites.

It is a severe issue for the old generation of devices who haven’t been upgraded yet. The organization will reportedly stop default cross-signing for the certificate that enables this functionality on January 11th, 2021. and the company will drop the completely cross-signing partnership entirely on September 1st of that year.

Sources have given a partial workaround for this by installing Firefox Mozilla, a partner in Let’s Encrypt. Then by using its certificate store but that won’t help with rival clients or functionality beyond browsers. However, dropping the support for old androids could be a sore point given Android update policies.

According to sources, about 33.8 percent of Android users on Google Play run a version older than 7.1. and some hardware vendors have cut off support for their devices early. It isn’t uncommon for Android vendors to offer few updates in previous years. Some devices, typically budget phones, would even be stuck with their shipping OS.

However, Samsung and other Android makers are now committing to three years of OS updates. It won’t, however, change the reality for many people with older hardware. And there may be few recourses if you don’t and are not willing to use Firefox. Even though many other sites will keep working, the inconsistent support could be a hassle and a significant obstacle at worst.

So it is recommended for the user to upgrade their phones to the latest Android OS. If one wants to use many of the websites on the world wide web with secure access, this is the only choice.

DxOMark released this year’s rankings for headphones and speakers

DxOMark has started its yearly review of the quality of wireless smart speakers. The evaluator has already posted charts containing numerous devices with their scores. The Essential map includes speakers with an RRP costing a maximum of €199 and the Advanced chart for speakers that cost between €200 and €499. According to sources, the lister plans to incorporate the third chart for Premium devices that cost over €499.

The top of the Essential list of speakers is the Amazon Echo Studio speaker, which gained124 points. The second on the lead is the Xiaomi Mi Smart Speaker HD with 109 points. Sources claim that Amazon Echo Studio was put through a battery test. The test checked the sound quality device in timbre, spatial, dynamics, volume, and artifacts.

DxOMark used a special anechoic chamber and utilized a bespoke testing playlist. It is allowed to ensure that all the speakers are evaluated fairly and without any external or subjective influences. Sources claim that the Amazon Echo Studio performed exceptionally well in the timbre section.

In terms of expensive speakers, the Harman Kardon Citation 200 came out on top of the Advanced chart with 147 points; the Google Home Max came into the second position with 145 points. The Harman Kardon Citation was rated the better speaker, but the Google Home Max proved its qualities in the volume and spatial tests. It established itself as the ideal speaker for a party situation or in an unusually large space.

The high-end performance of the speaker proves that the tech giants are adopting next-gen technology. All these results demonstrate that the companies have been performing exceptionally well in the music segment, with Amazon and Google’s likes leading the part. It proves that the companies will surely put forward many innovations to give their competitors a run for their money.

Apple cuts ties with Pegatron

Apple is known for many things. From its iPhones to iPads, the company is known to place innovations and adopting cutting edge technology. However, there is one more thing that the company is famous for, and it is for its draconian policies. Apple is stringent regarding its Code of conduct and cannot let go of the violations quickly.

Recently, the Cupertino giant severed its ties with one of its significant suppliers Pegatron. According to sources, Pegatron has been involved in student labor violations at some Taiwanese manufacturer’s China-based facilities. Apple found Pegatron is falsifying paperwork to cover up breaches of Apple’s Code of conduct.

“We have a rigorous review and approval process for any student worker program, which ensures the intern’s work is related to their major and prohibits overtime or night shifts. Pegatron misclassified the student workers in their program and falsified paperwork to disguise violations of our Code, including allowing students to work nights and overtime and, in some cases, to perform work unrelated to their major,” stated Apple in an official statement.

Pegatron is one of Apple’s most significant supply partners. It manufactures various products. Some of them are used in the new iPhone 12 models. The company will not conduct any further business with Apple until the matter has been resolved.

Pegatron, in an official statement, stated, “Upon discovery of this non-compliant activity, we immediately took the student workers off production lines. And we were working with our customer and third-party experts to make appropriate arrangements for them to return to their homes or schools with proper compensation alongside all necessary support and care”.

However, as it stands, Apple isn’t likely to continue its business with Pegatron anytime soon. It will be a huge miracle if apple even does business with it in the future. Apple’s Code of conduct for its suppliers is not a joke, and violating it means going against apple. Which is something every industry should avoid at all costs.

Lenovo unveils custom Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card for its gaming desktop

AMD has already submitted its upcoming graphics processors to its OEM partners for custom development. However, not all OEMs have successfully adopted the next-gen graphics units as of yet. But recently, Lenovo product manager of Gaming Desktops posted three photos of the upcoming Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card. The card has been compared with the OEM custom dual-fan version of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3070 model.

According to sources, the Radeon RX 6800 graphics card used for the quick photo session is the same card that has appeared in several of the leaks. Hence it seems that OEM has designed the black version of RX 6800 XT for their gaming systems. Sources claim that Sapphire makes all these cards. So, it was just a simple modification to the reference model’s color scheme to hide the device’s actual looks.

AMD’s Radeon RX 6800 XT is a Navi 21 GPU based graphics card released in 10 days on November 18th. The menu features 4608 Stream Processors along with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory. The Radeon RX 6800XT is a 2.5 slot-design and requires dual 8-pin power cables. The semi-custom GeForce RTX 3070 unveiled by Lenovo only uses one 8-pin power connector. However, Nvidia’s card is just as thick as the Radeons.

With OEM’s already adopting the custom AMD cards, the company processors are ready to impress us in the desktop gaming segment. As always, the desktop gaming processor market was dominated by Nvidia, but with the advent of Zen 3 based AMD cards, the tide is about to change. Whether the RX 6800 XT will tackle Nvidia, especially with the lack of ray-tracing ability, remains to be seen.

IPL 2020 final: Will MI continue their dominance or will DC lift their first IPL trophy!

Finally, it’s that day of the tournament. The IPL 2020 final is just a day to go as the mighty Mumbai Indians will take on the Delhi Capitals.

The Mumbai Indians will be playing their sixth final overall and will be targeting their fifth trophy win tomorrow. Delhi Capitals, on the other hand, will be eyeing their first-ever IPL trophy win ever!

MI has been extremely dominating in all their wins, however, every leap year (2012, 2016) has produced a new champion, so you never know maybe the stars are aligned for Capitals to cause an upset as well!

Will the defending champions make it five-times or we see a new title-holder?

MI has been in great form. They entered the playoffs with a flawless run winning 9 of their 14 matches. Even out of the five matches they lost, two were in the super over and one was because they purposely rested their bowlers.

However, during the playoffs, every game is a fresh game! And that showed up in the qualifier one game against the Capitals where they lost Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard for ducks. However, the team is so equally balanced that every player knows his role and executes it almost to perfection. Quinton De Kock provided a brisk start, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan scored phenomenal fifties, and Hardik Pandya gave a brisk finish.

Capitals, on the other hand, seemed as if they lost some steam before their qualifier 2 match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, the management played a masterstroke by opening the inning with Marcus Stoinis who has a great record as an opener. The move was risky but boy he delivered! This will be an X-factor for DC going against MI in the finals. Also, Kagiso Rabada found his lost form as he picked up 4 wickets to take his side through.

So does Delhi Capitals has what it takes to pull off an upset? Yes! However, as much as you may like an underdog story, MI will probably make it two in a row to take their fifth trophy home, should they overcome adversity in a crunch game like the qualifier.

Speaking of awards, KL Rahul will probably take the orange cap home with 670 runs. However, Shikhar Dhawan is just 67 runs behind, and scoring those 67 runs is in his wheelhouse so you never know. Kagiso Rabada will probably take the purple home with 29 wickets and potentially more in the final. But again you never know as Jasprit Bumrah is right there at 27.

Apple’s new HomePod reportedly out of Stock

Apple launched it’s iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max earlier. Alongside the new iPhone, its all-new HomePod mini also went up for pre-order on Friday. According to the source, after just over 48 hours of availability, HomePod mini shipping times have slipped into December.

Though the HomePod mini became available for pre-order on Friday, the first orders will not arrive until November 16 at the earliest for first buyers. The device is single in white and space gray. And it’s the space gray version that is now facing supply constraints after 48 hours of orders.

According to sources, if one orders a space gray HomePod mini today, it will arrive between December 2 and December 9. That is, however, if you pay for express shipping. Other orders, however, will arrive between December 3 and December 10, according to Apple.

Meanwhile, if one orders the white HomePod mini today with express shipping, it will arrive between November 24 and December 2. And With standard shipping, the device will arrive between November 25 and December 3.

All this indicates that Apple faces a higher demand for the space gray HomePod mini than the white variant. But it could also mean that the space gray model is facing issues with the production and supply chain side of things.

According to sources, many of the iPhone 12 mini variants are still available for launch day delivery on November 13. But the shortage of products could create an uproar among fans who are waiting to get their hands on the new gadgets. With Apple launching its Intercom feature, the demand for its HomePod has increased, and thus it may be the reason for the increased number of pre-orders for the gadget. As to when Apple will fill its stock remains to be seen.
