Sourav Ganguly thinks ISL will inspire other sports to resume

The Indian Super League (ISL) has started its seventh edition tonight as Kerala Blasters took on defending champions ATK Mohun Bagan.

ISL becomes the first sport in the country to resume on such a large scale. IPL was hosted in UAE due to the Coronavirus pandemic but ISL is being hosted inside a bio-secure bubble in Goa.

So BCCI president and ATK Mohun Bagan co-owner Sourav Ganguly thinks that ISL being hosted in India will inspire other sports to resume after the Coronavirus break.

Ganguly said on ISL’s Instagram Live session: “Cricket has just finished; now it’s time for more sports, time for football. I have always been very connected with the ISL. I have enjoyed it because born in Calcutta and from a very young age, I have seen football only. Cricket came later, so I have been attached with ATK and now ATK Mohun Bagan since the inception of the ISL.”

“We have been champions three times, so the attachment is even more because when you play well and win, you get more attached to it, so looking forward to another great season starting in Goa from November 20,”

Ganguly said ISL would inspire a lot of other sports as well.

“…and I say that, including cricket because our domestic season will start soon. We are looking to start in the New Year. It will inspire us to feel that security that if the ISL goes without any hiccups and I am sure it is going to happen, because the bio-bubbles have been created. We saw how the bio-bubbles have [had] an effect in the IPL. It will inspire a lot of other sports to keep starting because a lot of them are still tentative,” he said.

“We have to slowly enlarge the ISL and it will happen. Give this sport 10 years, give ISL 10 years, and let’s talk after 10 years. There’s no quick fix in this world, especially with football. We need to give it a bit more time. So, more teams will obviously be involved. We have seen it. We started from eight in the first year to 11 now and with time it’s going to bring interested parties back to the game.”

So now, it will be interesting to see how the other Indian sports react by seeing ISL and whether they will resume keeping the safety protocols intact.

Manchester United is considering a move for Real Madrid defender Varane next summer

0

Manchester United has faced some problems with their defensive issues in the last few games. They surely want a reinforcement in their defense in the upcoming transfer window.

According to a report published in Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have a chance to sign Real Madrid defender Rafael Varane.

Raphael Varane joined Real Madrid in 2011. In these 9 years at the Spanish Club, he has won 3 La Liga, 1 Copa Del Rey, 4 UEFA Champions Leagues, and 4 FIFA Club World Cup. He also won the FIFA World Cup in 2018 with France.

But the French defender has got a dip in his form since the football has resumed after the lockdown. Karim Benzema’s agent, Karim Djaziri, said on Twitter, “After the match against Man City, he’s been a shadow of himself.” Raphael Varane had put up a shocking performance in the second leg against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League ‘Round of 16’.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson in his book wrote how much he wanted to sign Varane in 2011. But finally ended up signing Phil Jones after they failed to sign Raphael Varane.

Sir Alex Ferguson told, “I hurtled down on the train from Euston to Lille to sign the young French defender Raphael Varane. David Gill was getting into the finer points of the contract with Lens when Zinedine Zidane got wind of this and somehow scooped him up for Real Madrid from under our noses.”

Raphael Varane is in the last season of his contract. If Real Madrid fails to negotiate a new contract with him there might be an approach from Manchester United.

Apple’s A15 Bionic to use N5P manufactured by TSMC

Apple has finally launched its new iPhone 12 series, and with it came the new A14 Bionic. Apple’s A14 Bionic is currently the world’s fastest processor and holds the title of being the number one in the market. The processor one of the first SoC to be made using the 5nm process node.

Recent reports have been making rounds on the internet regarding Apple’s upcoming A15 Bionic, launched with the next iPhone series. According to sources, Apple has partnered with Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company to produce even smaller process nodes. The new shorter process which apple is aiming to utilize is reportedly the 5nm+ process. It is known as the N5P process, and for this, Apple has chosen to partner with the Taiwanese manufacturer.

According to TSMC, the N5P node is the performance-enhanced version of the current 5nm process. It also claims that it will deliver additional power efficiency and performance improvements.

Apple Silicon for next-gen Macs announced at WWDC 2020

Another report indicates that the next processor in line with the A16 Bionic will utilize even smaller process nodes. According to sources, the A16 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process node on which the company is currently working to manufacture. It will offer more improvements for performance and power efficiency than its predecessors.

Apple is aiming to push its innovations and boundaries in terms of performance and power efficiency. But the invention is limited to Apple’s smartphone processor as TSMC is also manufacturing the new M1 chipset; hence, the new Apple’s Silicon coming in the future will all be used with even smaller process nodes.

Even though TSMC is working on its 4nm process node and apple will soon utilize it for its processors. Samsung Electronics has already started working on its 3nm and 2nm process, which is expected to be ready for mass production by 2025.

Frank Lampard can’t remember his biggest moments on the pitch

0

Speaking on the Eddie Hearn: No Passion, No Point podcast, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted that he has trouble recalling some of the biggest moments of his career as a player for the Blues.

‘Christine my wife jokes at me all the time because she will go “Do you remember that? Do you remember when we travelled on the way back from Bayern Munich when you won the Champions League and Drogba was dancing and all that?”

‘I can hardly remember a thing, it’s something that I don’t get upset about, but I just wish I could have those moments.

‘I am so bad with those things, and it’s a really strange phenomenon for me.

‘Even though I know I have been like that, and I want to sit and take a moment, I still don’t do it. I still don’t.’

To this day, Frank Lampard is considered the greatest player in the history of Chelsea. His tremendous goalscoring records and his ability to change the fate of a match through his prowess made him a force to be reckoned with in his prime.

Lampard won the Premier League title thrice with Chelsea, defending it successfully in 2006 after winning it first in 2005. He won the league title again in 2010 with the Blues.

The Chelsea number 8 also won four FA Cups and two League Cups with Chelsea. However, his greatest accomplishment without a doubt is winning the Champions League in 2011/12 on that magical night in Munich. The last trophy that the legendary player won during his career was the Europa League in 2012/13.

The midfielder turned manager is the only player to feature in the top 5 of both the top goalscorers’ list in the league, as well as the highest number of assists in the competition, with 177 goals and 102 assists to his name.

We love the mission, the people and the challenge that comes with it

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, November 20, 2020/ — Douglas Ryder, the South African founder of NTT Pro Cycling, is thrilled to announce the next step in our team’s incredible journey, which sees us moving forward in partnership with the leader in performance cycling apparel, ASSOS of Switzerland, to create Team Qhubeka ASSOS.

Since founding the team, Ryder’s ultimate dream has been to use the profile and success the team has developed on cycling’s global stage to promote its purpose: changing lives through bicycles together with Qhubeka Charity.

This call to action has been keenly felt by our riders, staff, partners and fans across the world and seen our team raise funds for more than 30 000 bicycles for distribution to Qhubeka programmes in South Africa.

From 2021, our team – which has formerly ridden as MTN, Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka and most recently NTT Pro Cycling – will be in the exciting position to further advance this movement by racing to raise awareness of the mobility challenges that occur throughout communities in Africa.

Team Principal Douglas Ryder said: “I am really happy to have gained the support of some incredible people and partners including ASSOS of Switzerland who have stepped in to be a headline sponsor. To be able to recreate the team as Team Qhubeka ASSOS talks to exactly what we continue to strive for, and that is to be a purpose-led, high-performance racing team. The last few weeks have been incredible seeing all the comments from fans in terms of how this team has connected with them in different ways. I am so happy we can continue to create hope and opportunity through our team and with Qhubeka Charity.

“I look forward to welcoming new partners to Team Qhubeka ASSOS as we plan and prepare for a new season in 2021 in a world that has been so heavily impacted by the pandemic. The bicycle continues to be a tool to change the lives of so many people for commuting, for sport, for health, for freedom and access. Our team has always been about much more than victories, but we do love to win.”

“I also want to pay a special tribute to our staff. Those in the sport know just how difficult it is, so to see the diligence, care and professionalism they’ve shown throughout gives me inspiration, every day. We truly are a family,” Ryder concluded.

Derek Bouchard-Hall – ASSOS, CEO

“We have really enjoyed being part of this mission driven team – Qhubeka’s slogan that “bicycles change lives” could not inspire us more. And ASSOS has always been and continues to be deeply entwined in professional cycling – we were really moved by the opportunity to support the sport during the COVID crisis by keeping this important team part of the pro peloton.”

Roche Maier – ASSOS, Board Member Chief ASSOS Creative Design Centre

“We love the mission, the people and the challenge that comes with it. We are made in cycling and contributing to support and further develop the pinnacle of high-performance cycling is just the proper thing to do, especially in these uncertain times.

Team Qhubeka ASSOS is not a traditional sponsorship but will be operated as the lighthouse of the Assos Worksteam. Our team will be used and abused to push boundaries of product development and stress tests to yet another level. We thank Douglas for the opportunity.”

Tsatsi Phaweni – Qhubeka, Executive Director

“Qhubeka has developed a relationship with Doug Ryder and his team that spans more than a decade and is founded on our shared belief that bicycles change people’s lives for the better.

We have huge respect for all they have achieved to date and look forward to continuing to cheer them on in 2021 and beyond. We remain grateful for their continued support of our work and for all their efforts to raise funds and awareness for Qhubeka, along with their fans, sponsors and the broader cycling community. Together, we can change more lives with bicycles, and so we wish them every success.”

Google Pay India hints a new change: a revamp maybe?

During this global pandemic, people are avoiding physical contact to restrict the spread of coronavirus. As a result, in the markets, we mostly have to use the UPI facility to make payments and in this field, Google Pay is one of the trusted and easiest platforms available.

At present, in India, it is in high practice for two reasons – the GoIndia offer and its makeover in the US. Now, the Indian arm of Google Pay is preparing itself for something new. On its official Twitter page, Google Pay Indian hints about its work on something new (as you can see below).

According to our point of view, it’s nothing but the revamp that is introduced this Wednesday for the US. In simple words, we Indians are not far away to get the new improved version of Google Pay.

In case you don’t know, here are the details about the revamped version of Google Pay for the United States –

First of all, the logo of the application is changes completely. Along with that, the developers also changed some parts of its UI and obviously, added some new features and strengthen security and privacy.

Revamped Googe Pay_TechnoSports.co.in

The money transfer to a particular friend is the same as we are using currently. In addition to it, users can now create groups and split their bills among the group members. Even the new UI will allow to easily figure out which group member pays the bill and who is left. Most importantly, you can enjoy all the facilities maintaining high security and privacy.

In the case of merchant payments or paying to popular stores, the new Google Pay will apply discounts if there any. So, users can save as much as possible most of the time, without worrying about it.

In all the sections – friends and merchants, the application will automatically push the most interacted once. That will help all the users to pay others faster than before. In case a user goes to pay any stranger or a wrong address, Google Pay will indicate that each and every time.

Currently, the arrival of the revamped version to Indian is our assumption based on the official hint. We have to wait further for the confirmation. Are you agree with us about the hint? Let us know in the comments.

Why it’s time the Premier League should reintroduce five substitutions?

0

Could the third time be the charm for the Premier League in terms of the five subs rule? The managers certainly hope so.

Changes in Premier League rulings require the majority of the clubs to agree on a decision. However, the last two times, most of the clubs in the top flight voted against having five substitutions to use in league matches.

Contrary to the current scenario in England’s first division, most of the other top competitive leagues in the continent have chosen to continue the five subs rule introduced last season. The same applies to European competitions like the Champions League and Europa League.

According to a recent report published by elite journalists at the Athletic, there has been a shocking 42% increase in injuries this season. The majority of the blame for that can be given to the fact that players are not getting adequate rest in between games.

The international break congesting schedules even further has also taken its toll on the footballers, with substitutions owing to injury becoming a common sight not only in every game but in the first half itself.

The argument presented by the smaller clubs in the Premier League against having five subs was that the bigger clubs in the division, especially those competing in Europe, would have an undue advantage due to them having numerous quality players amongst their ranks.

While that argument could still hold true now, the fact of the matter is that the clubs competing in the Champions League and Europa League are at a disadvantage at the moment. This is due to their squad having to play about twice or thrice every week, with no breaks.

Liverpool is a prime example of how the congested fixtures have taken a toll on the players. While this season of the Premier League seems to be anybody’s competition at this stage, exactly how much of an advantage the five subs rule would give the bigger clubs is up for debate as well.

All things said the Premier League joining the rest of Europe in compliance with the five subs rule will help take the physical burden off of the footballers and give them time to recover.
