Oppo announced the arrival of two smartphones in today’s mega event where they launched the Oppo F series. Currently, the series consists of two smartphones which are F19 Pro and F19 Pro+ 5G. The phones have exclusively launched via Amazon India and are now available to pre-order from now on via Amazon. The sale will start from 17th March and that doesn’t matter because you can now pre-order your phone right now from Amazon.

Oppo F19 Pro

Oppo F19 Pro features a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and has a refresh rate of 60Hz. It comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and is powered by a MediaTek Helio P95 processor. It has a RAM of 8 GB and internal storage of up to 256 GB.

The smartphone comes with a quad-camera setup that includes an Omnivision 48MP sensor along with an 8MP ultrawide camera and two-2MP macro and depth sensors. For clicking selfies, it also has a 16MP front camera. It draws energy from a 4,310 mAh battery cell and is paired with a 30W fast charging support.

Mumbai, February 8, 2021: Ace paddlers Achanta Sharath Kamal, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, and Manika Batra started their campaign at the WTT Star Contender Doha on a winning note and progressed into the second round of their respective singles categories on Monday.

The Melbourne Commonwealth Games champion Sharath Kamal was seen struggling in the initial stages of the game as he went down in the first game against Brian Afanador. The World No. 32 recovered well to gain the required momentum and gave no further chance to his opponent before sealing the match 8-11, 11-8, 11-7, 11-1 against the Puerto Rican in the men’s singles first round. The Indian paddler will face World No. 16 Patrick Franziska of Germany in the next round on Tuesday.

World No. 37 Sathiyan was also trailing 0-2 in the match. However, he made a remarkable comeback with a counter attacking display and pulled off a sensational come-from-behind 9-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-4 victory against his French opponent Emmanuael Lebesson in the first round of men’s singles event. Sathiyan will now face a tough task in the next round as he is set to take on World No. 5 Japanese paddler Tomokazu Harimoto.

In Commemoration of International Women’s Day, NBA and Basketball Africa League (BAL) Commit to Advancing Gender Equality and Economic Inclusion Across the Continent

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, March 8, 2021/ — In commemoration of International Women’s Day, the National Basketball Association (NBA)and the Basketball Africa League (BAL) today announced the launch of several initiatives to advance gender equality and economic inclusion across Africa. The initiatives build on the NBA family’s collective efforts to advance equality and social justice in the United States, including the establishment of the NBA Foundation and the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition last year.

In Africa, the NBA’s and the BAL’s efforts will focus on raising awareness of gender-based violence, supporting girls’ education and growing female participation in basketball at all levels. The leagues will each use their individual platforms and resources to promote gender equality among fans and key stakeholders, and collaborate with corporate and community partners on new programs and capacity-building initiatives that help minimize the gender gap across both leagues’ operations. Additionally, the NBA and the BAL are seeking to work and partner with more African-owned enterprises across their business activities on the continent.

“Social responsibility has been an integral part of the NBA’s youth development efforts on the continent for more than three decades,” said NBA Africa CEO Victor Williams. “Following the establishment of the NBA Foundation and the National Basketball Social Justice Coalition in the U.S. and building on our broader efforts to help create a more equal and just society, the NBA and the BAL each look forward to deepening their engagements with partners, community leaders and other stakeholders to advance gender equality and create a more inclusive economic environment in Africa.”

“The Basketball Africa League is committed to fighting the stereotypes, prejudices and barriers that too often prevent women in Africa from realizing their dreams,” said BAL President Amadou Gallo Fall. “These initiatives will help ensure that young girls and women across the continent have the opportunities and resources that will help them grow on the court and in life.”

Specific actions and programming the NBA and BAL will implement over the next three years include:

Addressing gender-based violence through educational workshops, participation in anti-violence campaigns, and by leveraging the influence and leadership of the leagues’ players;
Supporting girls’ education through the development of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) sports curriculum for girls ages 14 and under, inspiring them to explore fields that prepare them for future employment;
Ensuring more opportunities for women in BAL gameday operation roles, including referees, scorer’s table officials, match commissioners and announcers;
Growing the NBA’s and the BAL’s partnerships and business relationships with African-owned small and medium enterprises.

The NBA has a long history in Africa and opened its African headquarters in Johannesburg in 2010. Opening-night rosters for the 2020-21 NBA season featured a record-tying 14 African players, and there are more than 100 current and former players from or with at least one parent from Africa. Through NBA Cares, the league’s global social responsibility program, the NBA family has created more than 90 places in Africa where children and families can safely live, learn, and play.

The Jr. NBA, the league’s global youth basketball program for boys and girls, has been implemented in 15 African countries. Taiwan 2021 machinery exports will be hitting records says TAMI chairman

Taiwan has seen a substantial increase in its revenue in midst of a pandemic, thanks to the strong demand for its semiconductor and machinery exports. In the year 2021, as technology gets evolved the demand for such products is likely to increase.

So, the Taiwan-based machinery manufacturers are expecting to generate around NT$1.2 trillion or US$42.6 billion in output and US$30 billion exports in 2021. This a huge increase by 9% and 15% respectively year-on-year, hitting respective records, according Alex Ko, chairman of Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI).

As reported by Digitimes, as a lot of manufacturers are relocating from China, including the Taiwan-based ones, have been relocating factories from China to Vietnam, India, Mexico and other countries due to the US-China trade disputes, boosting the demand for machinery.

According to TAMI, Taiwan’s machinery exports in January 2021 hit a monthly record of US$2.671 billion, growing as much as 2.8% sequentially and 33.4% on the year. Taiwan’s machinery manufacturers have already seen an increase in exports and domestic sales.

Many Taiwan-based manufacturers with factories in China have returned to Taiwan to set up production lines for high-end products. So, the year 2021 could end up on a positive note for Taiwan and the machinery production in the country.

Samsung to launch its two new Galaxy A-series smartphones this month, Galaxy A52 and A72. As per reports, there will be a 4G and a 5G variant for the Galaxy A52 whereas the A72 will only arrive with 4G connectivity. It is also said that both the smartphones will get launched in the same launch event. So, let’s check out what are the specifications we have known as of now regarding the two upcoming Galaxy A-series of smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy A52

As mentioned earlier, there will be two versions of this phone: one is 4G and the other one is 5G. The Galaxy A52 is likely to run on Android 11 OS and the 4G variant will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset whereas the 5G variant will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G chipset. The display will be almost similar in both versions, it will be a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display supported by a 90Hz of refresh rate (for 4G) and 120Hz refresh rate (for 5G) (both are protected by Gorilla Glass 5).

The SoC of the 4G variant will be paired with 4GB/6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage (expandable up to 1TB). On the other hand, the SOC of the 5G variant will be paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage (expandable up to 1TB)[Memory and microSD options may differ by country]. Coming to the camera section, it will be identical in both variants. It will be a quad rear camera setup supported by an LED flash that includes a 64MP primary sensor (AF OIS), a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP macro, and a 5MP depth sensor. For selfies, it will have a 32MP selfie snapper at the front.

Both the 4G and 5G variants will be fueled up by a 4,500mAH battery supported by 25W of fast charging and the dimensions are also identical: 159.9×75.1×8.4mm, 187 grams.

It will have only one variant, which is 4G. It is likely to run on Android 11 OS and will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset. Regarding the display, this phone will have a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display supported by a refresh rate of 90Hz (protected by Gorilla Glass 5).

EU and USA Regulatory Bodies Approve Microsoft+Bethesda Deal

Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda for a $7.5 billion deal has been approved by both the European Union (EU) and United States of America regulatory agencies.

Last Friday, under Microsoft’s name, the USA’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) published a notice of effectiveness. This is SEC’s public declaration that a public company’s registration statement has been accepted. While the notice does not mention Bethesda outright, according to a report by WCCFTECH, it is all but sure that it concerns this particular deal because a prospectus document (SEC Form 424B3) was published as well on the same day. The prospectus document SEC Form 424B3 is an amendment to the original registration prospectus and the registration fee of $7.5 billion was clearly listed in this document.

Today, the European Commission’s website was also updated with a decision on this merger case. The decision references Article 6(1)(b) of the European Commission Merger Regulation, which is essentially a non-opposition.

“Where it finds that the concentration notified, although falling within the scope of this Regulation, does not raise serious doubts as to its compatibility with the common

market, it shall decide not to oppose it and shall declare that it is compatible with the common market. A decision declaring a concentration compatible shall be deemed to cover restrictions directly related and necessary to the implementation of the concentration.”

However, it is still unclear if this means we can expect a public announcement by Microsoft and Bethesda in the near future. A recent rumor-mill indicated that the Xbox makers might be preparing some sort of celebratory event for the acquisition; after all, it is not every day that the likes of Bethesda and all of its IPs, from Elder Scrolls to Doom, are added to a company’s portfolio.

Similarly, with the merger going through, we have to see how it affects the ongoing lawsuit against Bethesda’s parent company Zenimax centered on Fallout 4’s Creation Club. The plaintiffs, through a preliminary injunction, reportedly tried to get a judge to halt the deal and preserve the assets.
