Virat Kohli retains the No 1 spot on ICC Men’s ODI batsmen rankings for the fourth straight year

0

Indian captain Virat Kohli is going to end the year 2020 as he continues to retain the No. 1 ODI batsman spot in the latest ICC rankings.

Though for the first time since 2008, Kohli finished the calendar year without an ODI century but has retained his top spot with 870 points, with 431 runs in nine games at an average of 47.88 and also with a strike-rate of 92.29 adding to it five half-centuries.

Skipper Kohli has also smashed two half-centuries during the ODI series against Australia in the ongoing tour, where he also broke legend, Sachin Tendulkar’s record by becoming the fastest to score 12000 ODI runs by finishing the feat in a mere 242 innings as compared to Sachin Tendulkar, who had achieved the same in 300 innings.

Not only Skipper Kohli but also Rohit Sharma have maintained his dominance in the latest ICC ODI rankings retaining No.2 spot in the rankings for batsmen.

Hardik Pandya who was totally phenomenal in the white-ball series against Australia also made his first appearance in the top 50 batsmen at 49th place with his career-best of 553 points. Unfortunately, Hardik Pandya missed out closely from becoming the third batsman to score a century in the match during the first ODI of India’s tour of Australia in Sydney.

Steve Smith’s record of 62-ball centuries in the first two matches during the ongoing series against India enabled him to move back into the ODI top 20 batsmen for the first time since 2018 with 707 points at the fifteenth position.

Adam Zampa has also made a big impact with balling where mostly batsmen dominated making his entry in the top 20 ODI bowlers for the very first time with Zampa’s seven wickets at 23 which took him to the fourteenth position with a career-best 623 points. Also, Josh Hazlewood took six wickets and moved up a place to the sixth rank.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Ross Taylor and Australia captain Aaron Finch are the 3rd, 4th and 5th ranked batters, respectively.

FC Barcelona may have to pay another €20 million for Coutinho

0

Philippe Coutinho to FC Barcelona is one of the flop transfers in the recent past. The Brazilian has never capitalized on his full potential at FC Barcelona.

Philippe Coutinho joined FC Barcelona in 2018 from Liverpool FC. After exciting first 6 months with Blaugrana, the Brazillian lost his momentum and was sent to Bayern Munich on loan last season. He played a decent role in Bayern Munich’s treble-winning season but lost his place in the team to Thomas Muller who was in form of his life. Bayern Munich refused to buy the Brazillian midfielder after the end of the loan spell.

Coutinho joins Barcelona for pre-season, having thrashed his parent club out Champions League

He came back to FC Barcelona completing a loan spell as new manager Ronald Koeman wanted him in the team. But the situation has not changed yet for him. In the meantime, Philippe Coutinho has already played 90 games for FC Barcelona. He has scored 24 goals for the club. The Spanish club has to pay another €20 million to Liverpool once Coutinho made his 100th appearances for them. It will increase the transfer value to €170 million.

FC Barcelona is in a search of a buyer for Coutinho in January. According to the source, they are desperate to sell him for just £45m. Multiple clubs all over Europe are interested in the service of the former Liverpool midfielder. Manchester United, Inter Milan, Arsenal are considering a move in January. He can be an excellent addition to any team.

Christian Eriksen to leave Inter FOR SURE in January

0

Almost a year into his move to Italy, Christian Eriksen is on his way out of the club, as confirmed by Inter Milan CEO Guiseppe Marotta. Here is what he had to say regarding the future of the former Spurs player:

‘We’ve been very clear many times that there are players on the so-called transfer list, these are players who want to play more regularly, and the club is ready to make them happy and find replacements,’ he said.

‘Eriksen is on the transfer list, Piero Ausilio confirmed as much. He has struggled to settle into the squad, he is not functional to the squad.’

The Danish midfielder’s role at the San Siro has dropped to that of a bench warmer. He has barely had a chance to start a single game this season, and with his talents, will look to try everything to secure a move away in the upcoming transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal are reportedly the clubs that are really interested in the player. While Arsenal are clearly in the worse shape and need a playmaker much more desperately, the fact that Eriksen was once a Spurs player could play into account the events that could make the transfer possible.

Declan Rice destined for a Chelsea move eventually

Speaking on the topic in Episode 18 of the “Here We Go” podcast on Patreon, Fabrizio Romano and Francesco Porzio spoke about the future of Declan Rice and addressed the player changing his agent to his father, who happens to be a season ticket holder at Stamford Bridge, as well as a huge Chelsea fan.

Rice himself was once a Chelsea academy player, but was eventually let go of to play for West Ham United. To this day, he remains best friends with current Chelsea star Mason Mount. Furthermore, Frank Lampard has also publicly appreciated Rice’s journey to establish himself at West Ham and has flirted with the idea of possibly bringing him back to the Bridge.

West Ham had been holding out for a transfer fee worth £80 million for their star player, and that valuation was not met by Chelsea this summer due to other players taking priority over Rice.

All that said, the Blues will make an attempt for Rice in January as well. The problem is not with the player but is with West Ham and the agreement of a favourable transfer fee for the midfielder.

Declan Rice himself is keen on the move, and so is Chelsea. If there is no successful bid for the midfielder in the winter transfer window then it is almost certain that Chelsea will return for him in the summer. The player looks destined to one day wear a Chelsea shirt alongside his best pal, Mason Mount.

Messi has now scored the most goals for a single club

0

With his goal against Real Valladolid in La Liga, Lionel Messi managed to break the record set by Pele for the most goals scored for a single club, with 644 goals for the only club the Argentinian has ever played professional football for.

Last week, Messi managed to equal the record set by the legendary Brazilian, and has managed to smash the record in only the very next match. Here is what La Pulga had to say via his Instagram account:

“When I started playing soccer I never thought I would break any records. And even less the one that I achieved today that I had @pele … I can only thank everyone who helped me over the years, my teammates, my family, my friends and everyone who supports me every day. Hug!!” translated from Spanish, posted by Messi on his official Instagram handle.

While Lionel Messi has had an uncharacteristically shaky start to the 20/21 season, he finally looks to be on his way back to his old self with good performances in his recent games.

Fati, Coutinho and Messi impress as Barca break the curse of Balaidos

There is still plenty of speculation regarding the player’s future. His contract at Barcelona expires in about 6 months, and he will be allowed to talk to clubs regarding a pre-contract agreement during the January transfer window.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are the two clubs that can afford to have the superstar’s wages on their books. And they will be looking to lure the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner away from Barcelona with the current uncertainty regarding his future looming stronger than ever.

OnePlus Watch to arrive early next year, Pete Lau stated

0

Premium smartphone manufacturer “Flagship Killer” OnePlus has come a long way and now it’s time to launch the OnePlus Watch. OnePlus has launched a lot of gadgets as well as smartphone all over 2020 and in quarter 4 of this year, OnePlus was supposed to launch the OnePlus Watch. But unfortunately, for some reason, OnePlus decided to postpone the launch of this device. As of now, we only got to see the straps of the watch of the Cyberpunk 2077 limited edition.

Recently Pete Lau has hinted about this OnePlus Watch that it may get launched in early 2021 on his Twitter handle. Actually, the main post was about some other accessories of OnePlus, such as phone cases or backpacks. But additionally, Pete Lau has hinted about the upcoming device from OnePlus. Moreover, the upcoming flagship series of OnePlus, the OnePlus 9 lineup is about to arrive early next year. So, we can well expect that the OnePlus Watch and the OnePlus 9 will be unveiled almost at the same time.

Regarding the specification, there is nothing much we’ve known yet. As of now, we’ve known that the upcoming OnePlus Watch will have a round-shaped dial. So, we will be going to see a round-shaped watch instead of a square-shaped one like Apple. Maybe, in the future, OnePlus too will make some square-shaped watches as well. This watch is expected to run Wear OS (nothing confirmed yet). Earlier, Pete Lau has revealed that the company is currently in the works with Google to make an improvement on Wear OS.

Manchester United in pursuit of another unknown wizkid, Moises Caicedo

Moises Caicedo is reportedly on the verge of being Manchester United’s first signing of the January transfer window. According to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the club are in direct contact with Caicedo’s agent and are in full control of the situation.

A transfer fee worth €5 million has been quoted by Romano, in addition with a five year deal on the table for the youngster. There is no apparent problem between the two parties regarding personal terms over the contract.

Manchester United are in control of the situation and will make the decision of completing the deal or not in the upcoming few weeks, possibly when the transfer window will be officially open for business.

The Athletic report that Manchester United legend Antonio Valencia has been asked for his opinion on the youngster. Valencia has responded positively to the Red Devil’s pursuit of the 19-year-old, further going on to say that the player could go on to be one of the best in the future.

While United are almost playing without traditional wingers now, owing to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s newfound diamond midfield formation. However, it seems imperative that the coach will be trying to switch back to a 4-2-3-1 as soon as possible.

With Mason Greenwood only a teenager as well, expecting him to win matches on his own would prove to be too much. Hence, with the arrival of Amad Diallo, and potentially Moises Caicedo from Independente del Valle could prove to be a worthy investment in the future of the club.

Jonathan Isaac agrees to a four-year, $80 million extension with Orlando Magic

0

The Orlando Magic signed Jonathan Isaac to a four-year, $80 million deal despite him playing only one healthy season during his rookie contract. He will be missing the entire 2021 season since he tore his ACL in the NBA bubble. He will return to court once he recovers.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Isaac signed the contract with Orlando ahead of the league deadline on Monday.

The 23-year-old was drafted by Orlando Magic out of Florida State in 2017 with the No. 6 pick.

On Saturday, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported that the Magic had been awarded a disabled player exception worth $3.7 million, which will enable them to add another player through a new one-year deal, or by trading or claiming a player who has one season left on their contract.

Isaac has had to deal with a lot of injuries early on in his career. His hard work and determination have brought him back each time. He came back from a severe ankle sprain in his rookie season to lock down a spot in the starting lineup and help build a top-10 defense that ended Orlando’s playoff drought in 2019.

The injuries stopped his career-best campaign, as he averaged 11.9 points on 47.0 percent shooting, with 6.8 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 1.6 steals while playing 28.8 minutes per game.

The Magic have tied a significant part of their future with him. They believe he will be fully back. They have definitely put financial backing to this belief.
