Real Madrid continuing negotiations with David Alaba

0

David Alaba has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid when his contract with Bayern Munich expires. The heat around the Austrian’s potential switch has died down a bit. However, Fabrizio Romano has outlined the main reason behind it in his Here We Go podcast on Patreon.

Negotiations between Alaba’s agent and Real Madrid are still progressing. The player’s demands of a €12 million salary per season is one of the main reasons why he refused to stay at Bayern Munich, and also why Madrid are finding it a bit difficult to wrap up talks quickly.

All that said, things are made easier considering that Alaba actually dreams of playing for Madrid and has an inclination towards the club. He has spent the last decade with Bayern Munich and has emerged as one of their best players in that time.

The Austrian has managed to win everything with the Bavarians and is looking for a new challenge. Bayern did everything in their power to try and convince Alaba to stay at the club, but he wanted to explore new projects.

It is hence that a move to Spain, where lie pastures anew, is preferable for the player.

Liverpool are the only other club interested in Alaba right now, but whether they are willing to pay his sky-high wages is a very important question that must be answered before a deal is considered.

Dele Alli transfer will have to wait if it must happen, PSG still frontrunners

0

Once heralded as the future of the Tottenham midfield, Dele Alli’s current situation at the club is anything but okay right now. He has been left on the bench for the majority of Spurs’ games and is not favoured at all by Jose Mourinho in the starting XI.

Alli has only played 74 minutes of Premier League football this season and has only made 4 appearances for the London club in the Europa League, alongside singular appearances in each of the domestic cup competitions.

The situation was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on his Here We Go podcast on Patreon as the Italian journalist said that the main reason behind Alli trying to force a move away from Tottenham is due to playing time. At 24, he is still young, and considering his talent, should be playing every single week to get to the best of his capabilities. However, that is not happening under Mourinho.

Paris Saint-Germain are still being heavily linked with the services of the Milton Keynes born midfielder, more so now due to the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the head coach of the French Champions.

Spurs are determined to not lose Alli permanently, and are only willing to listen to loan deal options. Even in that situation, negotiating a deal with Tottenham regarding a move for one of their brightest talents will not be easy.

Assessing the situation objectively, though, it is in the best interest of all the parties involved that Alli be sent out on loan somewhere so that he can play and develop.

Romano mentioned that a deal, if possible, would be more likely to happen towards the end of the transfer window. And hence, fans should be watchful of the Englishman’s future at Spurs.

Eder Militao and Milan Skriniar linked with Tottenham move

0

Rumours have been flying around over the idea that Jose Mourinho wants a new defender at Tottenham Hotspur. Eder Militao is the name being linked with a potential move to London.

Spurs scouts have been looking at him since Porto, and have been keeping tabs on him at Madrid as well. Real Madrid don’t want to change the team and want to look at the situation of the squad before making a decision.

Militao has found regular playing time hard to come by, with the youngster only getting a chance when either one of Raphael Varane or Sergio Ramos is injured. And even in those chances, he has looked out of his depth, mainly due to infrequent minutes on the pitch for Los Blancos.

Having only joined Madrid in the summer of 2019, and being only 22 years old, it is only natural that the 13-time Champions League winners see him as part of the bigger picture at the club.

Moving to Italy for a suitable transfer target for the Special One, and we arrive at one of the names that has been linked with Spurs heavily in the past as well, and that is of Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar.

Last summer, he wasn’t playing and was rumoured to be on the edge with Conte. This season has seen a complete turnaround in the player’s fortunes at the San Siro.

A bid to lure Milan Skriniar to London is going to be very difficult right now because Inter want €60 mill for the starter. His situation at Inter is very different now because he is regularly featuring in Antonio Conte’s starting XI.

Apple allegedly held talks with EV startup Canoo in 2020 about developing its own car

A few days back we covered if Hyundai and Apple are looking to partner to develop a self-driving car.  We now have a new report to discuss which says that Apple was in talks with California-based EV startup, Canoo. The talks regarding the Apple car is increasing at a rapid pace since the last few weeks.

The news surfaced that Apple and Canoo discussed a number of topics ranging from investment to acquisition. The US tech giant was attracted by ‘Skateboard’, which is Canoo’s scalable electric vehicle platform. Canoo is basically known for its flexible and innovative designs. It integrates a variety of electronics required in a car. It also consists of steer-by-wire technology. Both of these features combine to increase design flexibility while building a car.

Due to various reasons, both of the companies failed to find a common ground to work on. Thus, the deal ultimately failed. After this update came out in the market, the share price of Canoo went up as high as 25% in pre-market trading. “Canoo doesn’t openly comment on strategic discussions, relationships or partnerships unless deemed appropriate,” Tony Aquila, Canoo’s executive chairman, said in a statement.

We are seeing that Apple has tried to diligently focus on building their EV car under the project named ‘Project Titan’. That is why we are seeing them holding meetings with automakers like Canoo and Hyundai. Canoo has continously failed to generate money for short-term purposes. In fact, they took a loan of $7 million from the government’s pandemic Paycheck Protection Program. They also received $15 million total from Pak Tam Li, who is the Chinese investor.

We are still unaware of when we can see an Apple car running on the roads. But, what we do know is that it surely not going to be before 2025.

James Harden has reportedly been acquired by Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster 4-team trade

0

It appears that James Harden is finally getting the trade he wanted. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN and Shams Charania of The Athletic, the former MVP is being traded from the Houston Rockets to the Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster deal which involves four teams and multiple stars.

This is what the deal looks like, based on current reporting:

Nets get: James Harden
Rockets get: Rodions Kurucs, Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum, four unprotected first-round picks (Brooklyn 2022, 2024 and 2026, Milwaukee 2022), and four unprotected first-round pick swaps (2021, 2023, 2025, 2027).
Cavaliers get: Taurean Prince and Jarrett Allen
Pacers get: Caris LeVert, 2023 second-round pick (from Houston)

The deal was struck less than 24 hours after Harden apparently delivered a farewell address of sorts, on Tuesday night after the Rockets’ lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.

After Harden’s inflammatory comments about the Rockets, the team informed him that they did not want him at practice, earlier on Wednesday. Coach Stephen Silas said, “We felt it was best for James and best for the group for him not to come to practice.”

After remaining quiet through months of speculation that he is unhappy in Houston, the big man voiced his frustration after the Rockets’ second straight loss to the Lakers. “We’re just not good enough … I love this city. I literally have done everything that I can,” he said after the game. “I mean, this situation is crazy. It’s something that I don’t think can be fixed.”

Harden has been pushing for a trade to the, specifically, since he initially requested a trade during the offseason. He played with Kevin Durant in Oklahoma for the first three seasons of his career, and now that the duo has reunited, Brooklyn should have the NBA’s best offense, by far.

Barcelona presidential elections are set to be postponed?

0

According to the news by La Porteria, a Barcelona news website based in Spain, the football giants, FC Barcelona presidential elections are set to be postponed due to a recent boom in COVID-19 cases in the country as Spain is among the top countries to be hit a severely second wave of the Coronavirus, adding to that the new strains of the pandemic have been discovered in multiple countries. But these cases are not enough right now to stop football and La Liga.

Out of the nine new FC Barcelona pre-season trainees, one of them Out of the nine new FC Barcelona pre-season trainees, one of them is COVID-19 positiveis COVID-19 positive

But among all these rumours, FC Barcelona authority has confirmed that their presidential elections will be on January 24, despite the calls for it to be postponed amid rising cases of coronavirus.

Former Barca vice-president Jordi Cardoner, who was in favour of delaying the elections, suggested in an interview that not postponing the election would be to show “a lack of respect and an attack on the health of our members”.

But FC Barcelona’s authorities confirmed on Thursday that the date of January 24 and stated: “all procedures” have been accepted by the local authorities.

As part of a statement, Barca confirmed: “The board has also ratified January 24 as the date for the elections and that all procedures have been accepted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, in liaison with the Ministries for Health, the Interior, Sport and Procedure.

“All efforts have been made to ensure that the pre-candidates can collect support slips under the best possible conditions and with as much time as available.”

These are the first elections that are to be conducted at the club since Josep Bartomeu’s huge victory in 2016. However, a disastrous tenure of Bartomeu led to his resignation, consequentially calling for early elections at the club.

Victor Font and Joan Laporta are head-to-head competitors in what is arguably one of the biggest events in the club for over half a decade since 2015. Font even spoke to AS regarding that, saying, “We had to advance the elections through a letter, but nobody did anything. We are now in a worrying situation at the health level. What is clear is that elections cannot be held right now on January 24th.”

He seemed quite practical with his reply even after being one of the front-runners for the presidential post. Font further stated, “With the current restrictions, the right to vote cannot be guaranteed to all socios.”
