WhatsApp testing a new feature to make the transfer of its data between iPhone and Android much easier

According to the latest sources, WhatsApp, the number one social media chatting platform in the world, is currently testing a feature that will allow the transfer of chats between iPhone and Android. The platform has lots of features and is easy to use, however, it is rather painful to transfer WhatsApp data from an iPhone to an Android device or vice versa.

There are many unofficial methods available on the internet. But it just does not have the same effect, resulting in the loss of images, videos, or maybe even some chat threads. However, the new feature which the Facebook-owned chat platform is now testing will allow users to use WhatsApp on multiple devices. And the ability to move your chats to iPhone or Android (or between each other) will be a part of said feature.

When the user tries to link a device having a different operative system to his WhatsApp account, it’s always needed to update to the latest WhatsApp update available on the App Store or TestFlight, to avoid any compatibility error with the Android version.

The feature is currently in its beta testing phase and we have no clue as to when the feature will be made available to everyone. However, it is going to be a life-saver for those who want to migrate their WhatsApp data without having to fall into a hassle.

Currently, WhatsApp doesn’t allow users to have their service running on multiple devices at once. Users only have the option to use WhatsApp on multiple devices via using a web interface. This feature is going to be massive for people who are planning to switch from iPhone to Android or vice versa.

AMD patents its active bridge chip-let GPU design

In recent news, the Advanced Micro Devices company has recently posted a new patent. According to the patent, the company is working on a new chip-let that acts as a bridge between multiple GPU dies, possibly based on its next-generation RDNA 3 architecture for GPUs and APUs.

AMD has, for many years been criticizing the conventional monolithic GPU designs. AMD has already implemented the chip-let design in its CPU segment & the company is now planning to follow the same route on the GPU side.

Not only that but AMD’s rival, NVIDIA, is also investing in MCM designs that will be utilized in its next-generation GPUs. Both the rivals are looking for an advancement in their GPU technologies as there is a growing demand for high-performance GPUs.

In the case of AMD, sources indicate that the chipmaker has plans to invest heavily in chip-let designs for its next-generation GPU architectures. However, the chipmaker has stated that it faces a problem in making multiple GPUs work in parallel, think of Crossfire which is a redundant technology as are all multi-GPU implementations. To fix this problem, AMD has proposed an active bridge chipset that would bridge multiple GPU chipsets together.

The block diagram filed in the patent shows a chip featuring multiple chipsets, and the CPU portion is connected to the first GPU chipset via a communication bus (future generation of Infinity Fabric) while the GPU chipsets are interconnected via the active bridge chipset.

Indian companies are still behind in preventing cyber attacks

In recent, the growing number of cybercrimes has been alarming and the privacy of data is becoming more of a myth than reality. As such, companies around the globe have started to invest heavily in cybersecurity. However, preventing data loss caused by cyberattacks is proving to be a tough task for many companies.

According to a survey conducted by Acronis, a Singapore-based cybersecurity company, around 70% of companies in India use as many as 10 solutions simultaneously for data protection and cybersecurity, while 30% run more than 10, yet 57% of them suffered unexpected downtime due to data loss in the last one year.

During the downtime, the companies suffer a huge loss of revenue and also their reputation. Downtime also leads to heavy penalties under data protection laws. According to sources, the average cost of one minute of system downtime is about $5,600. For large organizations, the costs are even higher.

According to security experts, investing in multiple security solutions only increases complexity and reduces visibility for the IT team, resulting in heightened risk.

“More solutions do not deliver greater protection, as using separate tools to address individual types of exposure is complicated, inefficient and costly.”

According to the survey reports, 35% of IT users and 11% of IT professionals in India could not tell if their data had been modified without their knowledge as compared to 63% and 16% of their global counterparts, respectively. Most of them stated that it was due to the complexity of their solutions that they were unable to find the fault.

The Indian government’s Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019, is currently being analyzed by a joint parliamentary committee and is expected to be tabled in the House sometime this year. The country also yet to roll out its data protection laws on the lines of Europe’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In the year 2020 cyberattacks on Indian entities rose almost 300% to reach 1,158,208 from 3,94,499 attacks detected in 2019. In the wake of cyberattacks, the home ministry has been planning to pass the data protection bill as early as possible.

A recent ITHome report has confirmed that the Chinese OEM giant Lenovo has launched a new ThinkBook 14 laptop in its native country. It’s called the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 Ryzen Edition and sports the same AMD Ryzen 5 5500U, which was seen in March released Xiaoxin Air 14 2021 Ryzen Edition.

The new AMD Ryzen powered laptop is supposed to cost 4399 yuan or US$672.47 and is powered by the Zen 2 refreshed 6 core and 12 threaded Ryzen 5 5500U should give enough juice for everyday usage.
