Chelsea news: Tuchel, Silva, Jorginho and Kante extension; Tomori future depends on Milan’s CL pursuit

0

Despite the 1-0 loss to Arsenal last night, Chelsea are very happy with Tuchel. Since taking over the club in January, the German has completely revamped the defensive showing of the Blues. He has also guided the team into the finals of the FA Cup and Champions League, against Leicester and Manchester City respectively.

They will look at transfers together with him in the summer, but the plan right now is to finish the season first. They are convinced that Tuchel is perfect for the club. A three-year contract could be on the cards for the manager, but that will be decided for sure in the summer.

Thiago Silva in no rush to commit to Chelsea future

Speaking further on Chelsea on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano commented that Thiago Silva’s contract extension agreement is imminent. Both the parties are happy with each other. The Brazilian also has the desire to play the 2022 World Cup playing club football in Europe, and Chelsea will be his club.

N’Golo Kante and Jorginho will also sit down and discuss terms for an extension with the club. It will take time but there is no rush. Both are doing well. Jorginho was at fault for conceding the goal that led to Arsenal winning the game yesterday, but his performances over the last few months have been good regardless.

Chelsea are also awaiting Fikayo Tomori’s position with Milan. The feeling in Italy is that if Milan are in the Champions League, they will buy him. He would want to stay given that he has been very impressive for the Rossoneri and scored his first goal for them against Juventus in their 3-0 win. Milan are really convinced about him and could pay Chelsea in full in the summer if they achieve a top-four finish.

World Rugby’s reach across Africa grew further as Algeria and Burundi became full members of the international federation

CAPE TOWN, South Africa, May 12, 2021/ — Algeria and Burundi achieve full member status of international federation; World Rugby membership stands at 128 countries, including 19 associate members; Both nations will enter Rugby World Cup 2023 qualifying via the Rugby Africa Cup 2021; Rapid growth in African rugby being led by strategic focus on youth and women’s rugby; More than 350,000 registered female players recorded in Africa in 2020, up from 50,000 in 2012.

World Rugby’s reach across Africa grew further as Algeria and Burundi became full members of the international federation following approval at the World Rugby Council meeting, held virtually today.

The African nations were successful after achieving all the necessary criteria and their elevation to full member status sees World Rugby’s membership stand at 128, including 109 full members and 19 associate members.

The announcement follows the launch of World Rugby’s new Strategic Plan 2021-25 in April, which provides a framework for the continued development and expansion of rugby, supporting unions and regions in building capacity and capability, as the international federation strives to continue the journey towards becoming a global sport for all.

Both the Fédération Algérienne de Rugby and the Federation Burundaise de Rugby are full members of Rugby Africa and have sustainable women’s rugby and development programmes in place as they continue to grow as rugby nations.

Burundi currently has 2750 registered players and has been an associate member of World Rugby since 2004, while Algeria has over 80 men’s and 40 women’s teams and became an associate member in 2019.

Both countries will enter the qualification journey for Rugby World Cup 2023 as they are set to compete in the Rugby Africa Cup 2021. The competition begins with a repechage event in June before the group phase sees four pools of three teams each playing a round-robin tournament at a single venue per pool.

Burundi will compete in the Rugby Africa Cup repechage in Burkina Faso from 5-13 June which also includes Burkina Faso and Cameroon. The winner of the repechage will join Rugby Africa Cup Pool D in Tunisia in July together with Tunisia and Zimbabwe. Meanwhile Algeria will play in the Rugby Africa Cup Pool C in Kampala against Ghana and hosts Uganda from 10-18 July.

The best two teams from each pool qualify for Rugby Africa Cup 2022, which serves as the final round of the Rugby World Cup 2023 qualifier for Africa. The eventual winner of the Rugby Africa Cup in August 2022 will qualify for RWC 2023 as Africa 1, entering group A alongside hosts France, while the runner-up will enter the final qualification tournament for another chance at qualifying.

Increasing the reach and diversity of the international federation’s membership represents a key element of World Rugby’s global growth strategy, ensuring that upon meeting the relevant criteria unions are provided with a framework and support to continue their growth and development as part of the World Rugby family.

World Rugby Chairman Sir Bill Beaumont said: “We are very pleased to welcome Algeria and Burundi as full members, reflecting their commitment and progress in achieving the relevant criteria, thanks to the many talented coaches, administrators and volunteers involved in growing the sport.

“We are dedicated to the sustainable global growth of our sport, combined with strong governance and there is no doubt that Africa is a key region with huge potential for the future development of rugby. Africa is home to the current men’s Rugby World Cup winners and we will continue to work closely with Rugby Africa to ensure we provide emerging unions such as Algeria and Burundi with continuous support and a solid framework to further accelerate the growth of the sport across the region.”

Mr Khaled Babbou, President of Rugby Africa said: “I am delighted to welcome the Burundian and Algerian rugby unions as full members of World Rugby, bringing the total number of African member unions of World Rugby to 20. Rugby in Africa is growing rapidly and our strategic focus on youth and women’s rugby is evidence of this dynamic growth.

“In 2020, we recorded more than 350,000 registered female players in Africa, up from 50,000 in 2012. This is the result of a firm collective commitment from all African unions. I wish to congratulate Mr Albert Havyarimana, President of the Fédération Burundaise de Rugby and Mr Abdelkader Sofian Ben Hassen, President of the Fédération Algérienne de Rugby for their dedication and relentless efforts culminating in this recognition today. Both countries are in the running for Rugby World Cup 2023 qualification for the first time in their history and the entire African rugby family wishes them good luck in this new chapter.”

Albert Havyarimana, President of the Fédération Burundaise de Rugby: “This affiliation was long awaited by all the participants of Burundian rugby and comes as a reward for many years of hard work. From now on, it becomes a rugby legacy for Burundi, that we will seek to preserve and build upon for the development of rugby. It is an unforgettable event for the Fédération Burundaise de Rugby (FBR). Joining the global rugby family will enable Burundian rugby players to develop rugby on all levels.

“Although this recognition comes at a time when the world is going through a difficult situation with the Covid-19 pandemic, we are confident that we will overcome these challenges. Achieving this membership required great effort from all of us and it will now enable us to accelerate our growth. The FBR takes this opportunity to express its appreciation to all companies and individuals who committed themselves to bringing this journey to fruition, including various players and coaches of the clubs and their technical and medical staff.

“This membership, far from being an end in itself, is rather the beginning of a challenge and calls on all of us to step up our efforts to make Burundi Rugby shine at the regional and international levels.”

Sofiane Abdelkader Benhassen, President of the Fédération Algérienne de Rugby said: “This long-awaited membership of World Rugby as a full member will provide us with support in four main areas. It will allow us to accelerate the growth of the game in the country. Secondly, Algeria is currently ranked sixth in the African rankings, and will now come into the world rankings. We will from now on be able to participate in World Rugby’s General Assemblies and have a voice that counts. And finally, with this membership, Algeria can enter the qualification journey for the Olympic Games and the Men’s and Women’s Sevens and Rugby World Cups. I would like to thank Rugby Africa and its President, Khaled Babbou, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Olympic Committee and ACNOA as well as our private partners for their support. And I congratulate all the clubs presidents and founders of Algerian rugby and the entire union staff for their relentless efforts that have led us to this wonderful day.”

AMD almost hits 30% market share as per latest Steam’s Hardware survey

AMD has been closing Intel’s huge dominance in the gaming PC market each month with more CPU sales, and the Steam’s Hardware survey is a proof of it.

While last month AMD managed 28.84% of the CPU share, Intel only managed to keep it 71.16% with an overall gain of 0.67% share compared to March.

AMD almost hits 30% market share as per latest Steam’s Hardware survey

Whereas this month, even without launching a substantial amount of CPUs except the mobile processors of Ryzen 5000, AMD is rocking with its old Ryzen 3000 and four Ryzen 5000 processors in the consumer market, AMD has gained a nice 0.70% market share in just a month.

AMD almost hits 30% market share as per latest Steam’s Hardware survey

As you see the details, AMD has gained 0.51% share in Windows while Intel losing the same percentage while Intel is losing more macOS share because Apple is ditching Intel CPUs, and with days, that share will get narrower.

Whereas, the main area where AMD managed to crank up share is in the Linux department, gaining as much as 0.78% in just a month.

AMD is looking a lot more stable than last month regarding supply as you are getting more Ryzen 5000 series processor both for desktops and laptops. However, AMD needs to bring new products to tackle Intel’s Tiger Lake-H processors and upcoming Alder Lake CPUs.

Borussia Dortmund news: Sancho, Haaland and Bellingham updates

One year ago, Jadon Sancho was on the verge of joining Manchester United and the deal collapsed after three months of negotiations.

He wants to move for a top (maybe) English club, according to Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast. Dortmund have a gentlemanly agreement with the player that if an important bid will arrive, they will let him go. Romano clarified that an “important bid” would be about €85-90 million.

No official negotiations between clubs yet. Dortmund have reiterated that they can’t arrive in the last weeks of August. It has to be early. Liverpool can make a bid for the player if they sell some of their forwards at the club. Manchester United are ‘informed’ about the situation. Dortmund are very clear about their position on Sancho and won’t budge on it.

Keeping to Dortmund, Erling Haaland was never on the radar of  Bayern Munich. Oliver Kahn spoke to BILD and clearly stated they can’t afford him this summer. Dortmund are convinced that Haaland is staying.

Situation with Champions League spots seems different now as the Schwarzgelben are prepared to fight. Big money bids, however, could do the trick, but the attitude there is crazy bids or nothing.

Jude Bellingham has been the subject of rumours of crazy bids. However, it is not about mentioning clubs. It is normal to appreciate a player of his talents, but he is untouchable this summer.

Premier League to continue broadcasting deal with BT Sport, Sky and Amazon

0

The Premier League has decided to extend its current broadcasting deal with Sky Sports, BT Sport and Amazon Prime all being eligible for showing games on their respective services. The league’s shareholders had a meeting wherein they agreed on extending the current £4.5 billion contract for three more years.

The league needed permission from the UK Government to roll over the deal in place. This was in contrast to the belief that a competitive auction was on the cards.

Rival streaming services such as DAZN were unhappy at the absence of the auction. This means that they were unable to bid for the rights to broadcast the top flight matches. However, the government has assured DAZN that their decision falls under competitive law and isn’t a breach.

The main reason behind this extension is to provide stability to the clubs of the competition, who have reported massive losses this season. While fans were allowed for a few games, they have been absent from the stands for the majority of the campaign. This has resulted in clubs reporting losses worth millions with every passing matchday.

Spectators are expected to return for the last two match days of the season, and will possibly continue to attend games next season. The situation could be normal next season, and clubs could be seeing a rejuvenation financially.

Top 5 Players in the History of the European Championship

0

The European Championship is the major international tournament for European football nations. it takes place once every four years, meaning the opportunity for a player to win the competition is limited across the span of their career. We have seen some special moments throughout the history of the European Championship and it is worth knowing that when it comes to betting on the European Championship or any other football competition, you can always use a bet365 bonus code as this is one of the best offers in sports betting. You will find more promo codes for sports betting and online casinos on Bonuscodes.com.

In terms of selecting the top five players in the history of the European Championship, the number of man of the match awards is a good place to begin. Andrés Iniesta is the man who leads this table and the Spanish midfielder picked up five man of the match awards at the European Championship for Spain. Iniesta played at three European Championship tournaments, winning the player of the tournament award in 2012 as Spain went on to lift the trophy.

Iniesta was also named in the team of the tournament twice, winning the competition in both years. The former Barcelona man was a joy to watch in both 2008 and 2012, making the game look easy as he glided with the ball in midfield, keeping possession for his team and creating goal scoring chances.

Moving to one of the greatest goal scorers in the history of the European Championship and we come to Michel Platini. The French attacking midfielder deserves his place in the list of the top five players in the history of the European Championship due to his goalscoring exploits in the 1984 tournament. Platini scored nine goals in five games at Euro 1984, including the winning goal in the semi-final against Portugal and the opening goal in the final against Spain.

No other player has come close to matching the nine goals scored by Platini in 1984, with fellow countryman, Antoine Griezmann, coming closest in 2016 with a total of six goals.

Moving from midfield to the strikers position and if there is one goal every football fan loves from the history of the European Championship it is the volley scored by Marco van Basten against the USSR in the 1988 edition of the tournament. Not only is the goal regarded as one of the best strikes ever witnessed in football, but it also came in the final and you only have to look at the expression on the faces of the people on and around the pitch to understand the significance of the goal. Having already bagged a hat-trick against England in the group stage, Van Basten netted a dramatic late winner in the semi-final against the hosts West Germany before hitting the famous goal to double Netherland’s lead in the final.

Van Basten went on to win the Ballon d’Or in 1988, 1989, and 1992 and some of his performances at the 1988 European Championship were incredible.

Now we come to another of the great icons in European football, Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman was at his best in 2000 and when discussing his career, the player himself admitted that throughout that year, he was at the top of his game. Zidane simply took control of the 2000 European Championship from the first match onwards. He never looked as though he was struggling in midfield, always dictating the play and the ball was under his spell.

Zidane scored a tremendous free-kick as France defeated Spain 2-1 in the quarter-final and he was awarded the man of the match award. In the semi-final against Portugal, Zidane produced arguably the greatest performance ever witnessed by an individual player at the European Championship, culminating in the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 117th minute of the match. This was a tournament in which the Golden Goal rule came into play in extra time but that did not deter the Frenchman from sweeping the ball into the top corner.

It is not often you will find a goalkeeper in lists of the greatest players but there can be no denying Peter Schmeichel a place in the top five players in the history of the European Championship. Yugoslavia were unable  to compete in the 1992 European Championship and Denmark were called up in their place. Little was expected of the Danes, who had failed to qualify for the competition by right.

In the group stage of the tournament, Schmeichel made a number of great saves as Denmark defeated France 2-1 and he kept a clean sheet against England in a 0-0 draw. In the semi-final, Schmeichel saved Marco van Basten’s penalty as the Danes reached the final against Germany. Having produced a fantastic save to deny Jurgen Klinsmann, Schmeichel kept a clean sheet as Denmark went on to beat Germany 2-0 in the final and win the competition.
