Legendary Brazilian footballer Pele, who brought the game of football to where it is today, left all of us on Friday, 30th December 2022. Over the past month, reports emerged that the veteran was admitted to the hospital and was being given end-of-life care. His battle with cancer ultimately led to his demise today, at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo. 

Pele is regarded as the GOAT “Greatest Of All Time”. His contribution to football is unmatched. He has taught us that football is not only a sport but it is also a way to enjoy art. He put Brazil on the world map and has inspired a whole generation of youth to be football players. He has won the World Cup three times and scored over 1,000 goals in his career.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino wants every country to name a stadium after Pele to honour him

Pele spent almost his entire career with the Brazilian side Santos. His coffin was placed inside the Vila Belmiro stadium in Santos on Monday.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino was in Sao Paulo, Brazil to attend the funeral of Pele. He told to the reporters, via Independent: “We’re going to ask every country in the world to name one of their football stadiums with the name of Pele.”

Infantino further said in the statement which was released on the day of Pele’s death: “For everyone who loves the beautiful game, this is the day we never wanted to come. The day we lost Pele.”

“Pele had a magnetic presence and, when you were with him, the rest of the world stopped.”

“His life is about more than football. He changed perceptions for the better in Brazil, in South America and across the world. His legacy is impossible to summarise in words.”

In April 2021, Rio de Janeiro abandoned plans to name the famous Maracana Stadium after Pele. But now, it seems Pele’s name would be written in every country’s stadium.

Maximo Perrone to sign for Manchester City for $8m

Manchester City are expected to complete the signing of Argentine talent Máximo Perrone very soon. The youngster will be a signing for the Premier League club, and not the City group as a whole. 

He will be joining the Sky Blues after the Sudamericano Sub20, once the formalities surrounding the transfer have been completed. City have reached an agreement with Velez Sarsfield for a fee worth $8 million plus taxes for the player. 

Maximo Perrone to join Manchester City soon 

Newcastle United were one of the clubs monitoring the player, alongside Wolves and Benfica but have lost the race to the defending champions of England. There is a verbal agreement between Manchester City and Velez Sarsfield over the transfer, and in the coming days, the paperwork and other formalities like the medical assessment should be taken care of. 

The Mancunian side has been signing several young talents for their academy and future projects recently. And Maximo Perrone, one of the most highly rated teenagers from Argentina, is set to join that list. 

Perrone plays as a defensive midfielder, and has been capped once by the Argentina U20 team. He will become the second Argentinian in the team, after Julian Alvarez, who has become one of the standout performers in his very first season.

The India vs Sri Lanka series will be starting on January 3, 2022. Prior to that, the official sponsor for the team jersey changed. Earlier, MPL was sponsoring the name and now the brand Killer will be their official sponsor.

Earlier, BCCI in the Apex Council meeting said that no sponsorship right will be passed till March. however, with the sudden existence of MPL, the Killer brand had to take its place.

The official website of BCci shows that the MPL brand and the Killer Jeans brand as partners but now it’s confirmed that the rights have been exchanged.

The BCCI has three big companies as its sponsors including PayTM which owns BCCI. the domestic rights have been transferred to Mastercard and Byju will be exiting from their deal beforehand.

The MPL brand handed over the rights to Kewal Kiran clothing which is the parent company of Killer Jeans. Their contract was valid with the Board of Control for Cricket in India till December 23 but due to the recession, they exited earlier. Its original deal term was with the Byju’s which paid 10% more than Oppo on a per-match basis. However, ed-tech is going through a major financial crisis.

“BCCI received an email communication from MPL sports on 2.12.2022 seeking a complete assignment (team + merchandising) at full value to Kewal Kiran Clothing Limited, a fashion wear brand, for the period from 1.12.2023 to 31.12.2023.

“With the upcoming back-to-back home series and the women’s away calendar, it was suggested that the current arrangement should not be hampered as it involves performance gear for the national teams.

“We had asked MPL sports to continue the association at least until 31.3.2023 or look for a partial assignment that would involve only the right chest logo but not the kit manufacturing agreement,”– the note said

Juventus have no plans to extend Alex Sandro’s contract as of yet. The left-back’s deal runs out at the end of the ongoing season, and he will be free to leave if there is no agreement to continue together. 

However, there is an option to extend his deal for a further season which isn’t being considered as of yet on the club’s side. There are rumours that the player could also take a pay cut to continue his stay with the Old Lady, but no concrete talks have taken place about the same as of yet. 

Alex Sandro has chances to leave Juventus for free  

The Brazilian has been with Juventus since 2015, and has earned quite a reputation for himself. He was a part of Brazil’s squad at the 2022 World Cup, but hasn’t been able to maintain a high level of performance that he once showed with the Bianconeri. 

Now, a decision needs to be made as to whether a new player should arrive to replace him or whether he should continue for a couple more years. At 31, Alex Sandro is a little past his peak, and could be on the decline. Max Allegri is also considering the player in a central role of a three-man backline, which could result in him having a revived role in the squad.

And the time to experiment is between now and the end of the season, whereupon there needs to be a final decision about the player’s future.

Qualcomm is planning to give the majority of its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 orders to TSMC

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 could be obtained from TSMC and Samsung, with Qualcomm trying to cut production costs by partnering with both foundries. However, according to one study and one figure, in particular, it is probable that TSMC receives the majority of the company’s chip orders, with the benefit being its high 80 per cent yield rate of the 3nm process.

According to a report published by Business Next, the current 3nm yield rate is expected to be around 60-70 per cent, and in some cases, even more than 70 per cent, with TSMC formally having an announcement event, presenting its Fab 18 facility that would mass produce 3nm chips. 

TSMC’s current 3nm yield rate is between 75 and 80 per cent, which is impressive.

This number alone shows that Apple and Qualcomm may not have shipment issues with their respective A17 Bionic and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 devices, both of which will purportedly be designed in the next-generation manufacturing process. In terms of Samsung, the Korean manufacturer may have been the first to unveil its 3nm GAA technology, but we previously noted that the company has a dismal yield rate of barely 20%.

Samsung was previously claimed to have seen advances by cooperating with US business Silicon Frontline Technology, but unless it becomes a competitive alternative to TSMC’s high yield rate, the Taiwanese manufacturer would likely fulfil the majority of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 orders. According to those familiar with Samsung’s plans, the company’s wafer yield was barely 10%.

Given the additional costs and complications associated with churning out wafers at this manufacturing process, Qualcomm may have to pay more for each wafer, implying that it may begin charging its smartphone partners a premium. In that situation, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is likely to be slightly more expensive than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, raising the price of 2024 Android flagships.
