Samsung Galaxy S23 series brings a “generational leap” in all aspects: Aditya Babbar

0

Samsung’s first flagship smartphones of 2023 bring in tow a slew of new features. As expected, Samsung has thrown all its might into the S23 series and left no stone unturned to catch the fancy of premium buyers in India. Not only that but one of the significant things about the Galaxy S23 series is that they are being manufactured in India.

Aditya Babbar, senior director, mobile business, Samsung India says that the S23 series “has seen a generational leap, they are giving a very differentiated experience to the consumer.” In other words, a better phone than the Galaxy S22, hence the price difference. Babbar says that the base model price has gone up by 4%, which isn’t a significant hike. The S22 256GB variant was priced Rs 76,900 and the S23 starts at Rs 76,900 – which to be fair is a pretty good deal from Samsung.

Babbar is unequivocal in his praise for the Samsung S23 series cameras. For instance, the 200MP sensor that the S23 Ultra packs is built for nightography – Samsung’s product presentation and messaging in the marketing campaigns focus on the cameras. “The front camera, the dual pixel technology allows you 60% brighter selfies and faster autofocus. We have built-in Astro photography into the camera’s raw images to give consumers a completely differentiated camera experience,” says Babbar elaborating on the camera prowess of the S23 series.

Samsung is also touting the S23 series as a gaming-centric phone – something it rarely has done in the past, especially with its S-series of phones. And that’s because the Snapdragon 8 Gen Galaxy processor is a custom design chipset. “What changes for the customer is 30% plus GPU and CPU performance and 49% plus NPU performance,” he says, before adding that the phones have got ray tracing (which is normally not available in a smartphone) – which gives a “real life gaming experience on a phone.”

Babbar also says that the built-in adaptive power makes power management much better for gamers. If that wasn’t enough, then there is a built-in vapour cooling chamber. And if you’re wondering that these features are reserved for the most expensive S23 Ultra, then Samsung hasn’t cut the corners in the lesser premium variants – S23 and S23+. “Samsung’s endeavour has been to make technology more accessible and affordable, and these two words are very important to us,” explains Babbar.

It may look odd to attach the word affordable to phones that cost north of Rs 75,000 but Babbar says that Samsung is offering trade-ins like upgrade bonus to customers. He also argues that customers have different needs. For S23, Samsung is offering EMIs as low as Rs 5,200 per month. And then there’s Samsung Finance – a rather important pillar in Samsung’s scheme of things. Samsung is also giving Galaxy S23 buyers benefits worth Rs 52,000.

Samsung now has 67,000 stores offering Samsung finance. “50% of our consumers are new to credit who have never taken a loan, even to those consumers we are giving 15 months EMI. We run our finance program ourselves now that’s where it has given us great growth last year in non-metro also,” he adds.

Babbar claims that for the S23 series, Samsung’s pre-booking numbers are close to 1.4 lakh – which certainly sounds impressive. The average selling price, according to Babbar, is around Rs 1 lakh for the S23. In other words, in one single day, Samsung has done Rs 1,400 crores of pre-bookings.

Babbar says that Samsung’s growth rate in the flagship segment in 2022 was around 70% and he shares some more numbers. “The market has grown as per the estimate in metros at 74%. We have grown at 124%. And if I talk about non-metro, the market has grown at around 107% and we have grown at 179%,” he says.

Manchester City FFP breach: What are the possible punishments they can face?

0

Manchester City are currently locked in a legal battle with the Premier League over FFP breaches between 2009 and 2018. And as things stand, they run the risk of facing severe punishment from the league following an investigation.

The misrepresentation of their revenue sources has led to this situation being brought about. They are also at fault for signing an underage player by paying millions to his agent in a triangular deal. Moreover, they also had a secret contract with former head coach Roberto Mancini when he was in charge, paying him more for a false position.

The possible punishments Manchester City could face for their FFP breach

In the Italian Serie A, Juventus faced a 15-point deduction for their wrongful accounting of transfer fees. Moreover, their entire board resigned upon these allegations being made and they have had to restructure the higher ups at the club.

If they are proven guilty, Manchester City could also be set for a significant points deduction. They could also be happy expelled from the Premier League, given that they have won the league several times between the time period of the investigation.

They could also be forced to replay league games, or stripped of their titles. Moreover they can also be suspended from the top flight which would result in a forfeit victory for the other team.

Like Chelsea a few years ago, they may also face a transfer embargo preventing them from registering any new players.

The club could also be asked to pay a heavy fine, or face any other punishment that the legal authorities see fit.

LeBron James becomes the new NBA all-time top scorer

“To be able to be in the presence of a legend and great as Kareem, it means so much to me,” said LeBron James.

“Everybody that has ever been a part of this run with me the last 20-plus years, I want to say thank you so much because I wouldn’t be me without all you. You all helped. Your passion and sacrifices helped me to get to this point,” he said during a break in play to mark the achievement.

“And to the NBA to Adam Silver, to the late great David Stern, thank you very much for allowing me to be a part of something I always dreamed about. I would never in a million years dreamt this to be even better than what it is tonight.”

James hit the fadeway jumper in the game against Oklahoma City Thunder to hit his 38,388th point in the competition.

Barcelona season tickets to be cut down by 70% from 2023/24 season

0

Barcelona will be moving to the Estadi Lluis Companys for the 23/34 season, as Camp Nou undergoes renovation. And this has forced the club to cut down on the number of season tickets that fans will be able to purchase.

The Barcelona season ticket situation for the coming season will be reduced by 70%, as confirmed by the club. Currently, there are 83,000 season ticket holders for the club. And next season, only 25,000 are set to be offered.

Barcelona season tickets 2023/24 season: Massive reduction incoming

Which fans will be able to get their hands on the season ticket in 23/24 is yet unclear. But, there will be the option for fans to freeze their Barcelona season tickets for a year according to the club.

There will be no price reduction by the club, even though they won’t be playing at Camp Nou. Moreover, there is also a concern that general tickets could undergo an increase in price. The reason being the lower seating capacity of the Estadi Lluis Companys, and the financial trouble that Barca are going through right now.

The club is yet to announce details about the pricing for the coming year. And regular fans might need to start saving up to see their team in action from the next season.

FIFA World Cup 2030: Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile place joint bid

0

Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay have put forth a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The 100th edition of the edition will take place in seven years, and the four countries want it to return to Uruguay, where it was first held.

However, the other countries have also put their names forward to host the tournament as confirmed by their football associations at a formal press conference.

FIFA World Cup 2030: South American Nations put forward a joint bid

Spain and Portugal have signed a joint agreement to bid for the tournament together. Plus, there are rumours which suggest that Saudi Arabia and Morocco could rival the South American countries for the rights to host it as well.

One of the issues that could come up if the four countries host the 2030 World Cup is a massive increase in logistical complications and costs. How they plan on dealing with these potential issues could decide whether or not they win the rights. Moreover, significant development of infrastructure in all these countries will have to take place too.

The 2026 edition of the World Cup is set to be held in the USA, Mexico and Canada. And since the three North American countries are all hosting together, the World Cup could return to South America for its 100th edition if the bid is successful.

Only 3 football players have scored 200+ goals in the Premier League: Take a look at them here

0

The Premier League has seen some of the best strikers in the world all take the competition by storm. But only three have been able to stick around long enough to score 200+ goals.

Here are the only three players that have achieved this impressive feat over the course of their careers.

The Premier League’s only 3 players to have scored 200+ goals

3. Wayne Rooney (462 games)

The Manchester United legend has scored 208 goals in the Premier League, and is its second highest goalscorer ever. He also played for Everton in England, before moving to the MLS where he ended his professional career. Rooney played as an attacking midfielder, as well as a striker, but that wasn’t throughout his career which makes this feat all the more impressive.

2. Alan Shearer (306 games)

Shearer remains the Premier League’s all-time top scorer with 260 goals. He most prominently featured for Newcastle United, but also played for Blackburn Rovers during the early days of his career.

1. Harry Kane (303 games)

Harry Kane is the fastest player yet to score 200 Premier League goals. And he is now Tottenham Hotspur’s all-time top scorer with 267 goals across all competitions. The England captain is yet to win a prominent piece of silverware, which seems to be long overdue given his elite goalscoring record.

Ronaldinho’s 17-year-old son, Joao Mendes, will sign for Barcelona

0

Brazil icon Ronaldinho’s son, Joao Mendes, will be signing for Barcelona in the near future. The move has been announced by the legend himself, and he has confirmed that it will lead to an increased involvement from his side in the club than before.

Ronaldinho spent five years with Barcelona, and is now a club ambassador. He became one of the fan favourites during his time at Camp Nou, as a feared winger and attacking midfielder with some of the best skills in the game.

Joao Mendes to sign for Barcelona in the coming days

Initially, the youngster was unable to make an impact in his trials. But during the latter stages, he was impressive and was able the clear the selection procedure.

‘Yes he is coming now,’ Ronaldinho told Spanish outlet Marca.

‘I’m never out of the club. Barcelona is part of life. Wherever I go I take Barcelona with me.

‘With the arrival of my son at Barca I’ll be more present than ever.’

While Ronaldinho was an attacking midfielder through the middle or wide, Joao Mendes is a natural striker. He also possesses similar footwork to that of his father, and previously featured for Cruzeiro.

The club is owned (90%) by Ronaldo, his father’s former teammate. However, his contract was terminated and he is now on his way to Europe, and will play for Barcelona’s world famous La Masia academy until he gets the signal to progress further.

4-day Workweek: India’s Stance on this Scenario!

0

Professionals who are seeking work or want to make adjustments to their present position can choose from a range of flexible working options. One of these options is to work 4 days a week. In India, where the Center is creating four new labor laws that will dramatically change employee compensation, PF payments, and working hours, the 4-day workweek is a unique concept. The employees are required to work a minimum of 48 hours each week or 12 hours per day.

It may be more challenging in some industries, such as construction, manufacturing, healthcare, etc., even though it is doable in some, like IT. However, let’s examine the benefits and drawbacks of this timetable and offer some advice to make the most of this job paradigm.

What is a 4-Day Workweek?

A ‘4-day workweek’ is a work schedule in which full-time employees work four days per week rather than the usual five. It is normal for employees to work this schedule, which has become widespread in many countries and businesses, from Monday to Thursday. In contrast to a compact work schedule, which requires employees to put in the exact number of hours over fewer days, the timetable is different. For example, they could put in 4 days of 10-hour a day.

Will a 4-day workweek work in India?

Many individuals in India are optimistic amid the global debate over a 4-day workweek since their government drafted new labor rules that were intended to go into effect on July 1. Four new labor codes that were created by the Center will dramatically change employee pay, PF payments, and working hours. This shift won’t affect every industry the same way. While a 4-day workweek is easy to execute in corporate offices for businesses including e-commerce, technology, insurance, and banking, insurance, it is impossible for sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, and manufacturing.

12-hour shifts can be challenging in the manufacturing sector, where continuous activities are carried out in a cyclical manner. It is also not humanely possible for factory workers to work in a repetitious mode for that long. According to a code, employees are not allowed to work more than eight hours a day. Consequently, a 4-day work week will not be practical in this industry due to the regulations and the nature of the work. A 4-day work week is insufficient for sectors like agriculture and healthcare, which require constant attention.

On the other hand, this working paradigm can help the unorganized sector, where employees are already putting in 12 hours or more per day, by embracing the laws of the new labor standards and providing some degree of transparency to these sectors. The performance of the pilot projects has also lent support to the 4-day work week, which offers a number of advantages. Given the scale of the unorganized sector and the proportion of the workforce, it employs in India, nationwide adoption of a 4-day workweek may be difficult.

East Bengal Continues its Journey with Coach Stephen Constantine: A New Era in Indian Football?

East Bengal Football Club has made a big statement with the extension of Coach Stephen Constantine’s contract for two more seasons. Despite a disappointing ninth place in the ISL IX table, East Bengal’s investor Emami has been impressed by Constantine’s work and has decided to continue the partnership with the club.

Constantine, who joined the club in July of last year, had previously stated that it would be a miracle if East Bengal made it to the playoffs. However, with a 1-0 win over Kerala Blasters at home, Constantine is already looking ahead to the next season and targeting a top-six finish.

Emami’s Faith in Coach Stephen Constantine: A Step towards Stabilizing East Bengal’s Future

The extension of Constantine’s contract also signifies a continued commitment from Emami to the club. This is a positive development for East Bengal, which has had tumultuous relationships with previous investors Quess Corp and Shree Cement.

One of the reasons for East Bengal’s poor performance this season was a late entry into the transfer market. However, sources suggest that next season, East Bengal will build a strong team and make changes to improve their position in the league.

On a different note, East Bengal has a disciplinary issue to deal with. Defender Ankit Mukherjee has been fined for throwing his jersey in anger after being substituted in a recent match, and Coach Constantine has expressed doubt about the player’s future at the club.

East Bengal Football Club’s decision to extend Coach Stephen Constantine’s contract is a sign of a new era in Indian football. With a committed investor, a strong coach, and a plan for the future, East Bengal is ready to take on the challenge and make its mark on the Indian football scene.
