Warm Set, Bigger Story: “Love On The Menu” Cast Opens Up Ahead Of Premiere

With less than a week until premiere, KBS 2TV’s “Love on the Menu” just gave fans a warm, behind-the-scenes look at its cast — and the atmosphere on set sounds every bit as comforting as the show’s premise promises.

Love On The Menu: Overview

What The Drama Is About

Love on the Menu follows Kim Moo Jin (Ha Seok Jin) and Han Gyu Rim (Hani), former lovers who reunite eight years after a painful breakup. As they reconnect, the two work through the fractured pieces of their respective families, slowly building what the show describes as a warm shared table of life together.

Behind The Scenes With The Cast

New stills capture the cast fully immersed in their roles even between takes. Ha Seok Jin reportedly keeps his script close during breaks, staying focused on his character’s emotional beats. He noted that given the show’s long-running format, he’s paying close attention to pacing his energy across the whole series rather than just individual scenes.

Hani, meanwhile, stays sharply focused on getting into character even before cameras roll, and said she’s genuinely enjoying the process thanks to the set’s warm atmosphere, while picking up plenty from her castmates along the way. Bae Jung Nam echoed that sentiment, describing the environment as comfortable enough to act naturally.

Interestingly, Park You Na’s real-life energy is reportedly the opposite of her icy on-screen character Han Gyu Young — she credited co-star Kwon Hae Hyo for easing her nerves with humor and generous acting advice. Kwon Hae Hyo, in turn, praised his on-screen wife Yoon Yoo Sun for the steady sense of trust she brings to their scenes together. Rounding out the cast, Bae Youn Kyu and Jung Bo Min were also seen sharing lighter, youthful moments between takes.

Why Family Dramas Like This Resonate

Long-running family dramas remain one of the most consistently popular formats in Korean television, often using an extended episode count to build slow, layered relationships across multiple characters and generations — a storytelling tradition tied closely to the broader history of the family drama genre, as detailed on Wikipedia. With this cast’s on-set chemistry already shining through in early previews, expectations are high heading into premiere week.
