Fans of the cult classic action-adventure game Beyond Good & Evil might be in for a treat soon. A recent leak on the PlayStation Network (PSN) suggests that the long-awaited 20th Anniversary Edition could be released imminently.

PS5 Trophies and PS4 Patch Hint at Incoming Release

The rumor mill started churning when trophies for the PlayStation 5 version of Beyond Good & Evil Anniversary Edition surfaced online. This was quickly followed by the discovery of a 1.01 patch for the PS4 version. These developments are strong indicators that the game’s backend is ready to go on the PSN platform, potentially awaiting an official launch date announcement.

Enhanced Features and Visual Upgrades

The leaked PS4 patch details are particularly exciting for players. Patch 1.01 reportedly introduces a variety of new features, including a Speed Run Mode for players who want to test their skills and race through the game as quickly as possible, and Autosave Functionality, a welcome addition for those who don’t want to worry about losing progress.

Additionally, there is an Anniversary Gallery, featuring a collection of concept art, behind-the-scenes content, and other celebratory extras to commemorate the game’s 20th anniversary. skippable cutscenes are also included, perfect for players who want to jump straight back into the action.

The patch also mentions visual improvements, such as reworked textures and 3D models, suggesting a graphical refresh for the beloved title.

Platforms and Potential Shadow Drop: Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition

While Ubisoft hasn’t officially confirmed the platforms for the Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, rumors suggest a launch on PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox consoles. Interestingly, the game was absent from Ubisoft’s recent Ubisoft Forward event, leaving fans speculating about its release strategy.

There’s a possibility that Ubisoft might be planning a shadow drop for the upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa confirmed a June Nintendo Direct, and this could be the perfect platform to unveil the remastered Beyond Good & Evil to a wider audience.

A Nostalgic Return to Hillys

The original Beyond Good & Evil, released in 2003, captured the hearts of gamers with its unique blend of action, adventure, and quirky humor. Players control Jade, a freelance photographer working for the underground movement, The Agency, on the fictional planet Hillys. The game offered a captivating story, memorable characters, and innovative gameplay mechanics, leaving a lasting impression.

The 20th Anniversary Edition promises to be a fantastic way for fans to revisit this classic title with enhanced features and a visual refresh. New players can also experience the charm and wonder of Beyond Good & Evil for the first time.

With the PSN leak and the upcoming Nintendo Direct, anticipation for the Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is high. Here’s a quick rundown of what we can potentially expect: an official release date announcement, where Ubisoft will hopefully use the leaked information as an opportunity to officially announce the release date for the game; confirmation of platforms, which, while rumored to be multi-platform, will benefit from official confirmation from Ubisoft to clear up any confusion; a detailed look at enhanced features.
