The game even includes cooperative multiplayer, which is unusual in the free-to-play industry. Of course, given the developer’s size and stature, this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to players.

Alien Swarm lacks jump scares and relies on stunning graphics like some of the other amazing free-to-play horror games on Steam, but it can still be rather frightening when an alien swarm begins to close in around the player’s position. Its barren alleys and the humanoid beings that inhabit them are marvelously frightening, while the town’s many hidden treasures encourage players to explore it more thoroughly despite the rising sense of dread.

BABBDI’s goal is simple, with players only needing to find a route out, yet this is far from a basic game. Yes, there is no traditional fighting, but there aren’t many restrictions when it comes to exploration either. Everything just works so well together that this is not only one of the best free horror games on Steam, but one of the best free Steam games period.

Dark Deception – Best horror games on pc

Dark Deception is similar to Pac-Man, except with pink shards instead of little yellow balls and horrifying monkey bellhops in place of ghosts. The massive maze that players are forced to navigate is similarly terrifying, with no safe havens in which players can shelter to regain their breath.

Perhaps it’s that last feature that makes Dark Deception such a terrific free-to-play horror game since players are required to remain vigilant throughout their gameplay. Knowing that one of the wicked monkeys is hiding around the corner is terrifying, as is being pursued by one only to discover the route forward shut off by another.
