Over-ear headphones are still in fashion and are still one of the most preferred choices of media playing ear devices. As it has been witnessed by the latest headphones launched by Apple, the demand for over-ear headphones is still strong.

In recent news, we have the BeoPlay HX, which is the latest over-ear headphones by Bang & Olufsen. Coming for US$499, the headphones combine aluminum with lambskin leather, and have memory foam ear cups for added comfort.

The BeoPlay HX headphones just weigh 285 g and are lighter than the Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 and the Sony WH-1000XM4. Apart from being light-weight the device also comes with a 1,110 mAh battery, which B&O claims will last up to 35 hours with active noise cancellation (ANC) on, or 40 hours with the technology deactivated.

B&O claims that the BeoPlay HX’s four microphones deliver an improved noise cancellation compared to the third-generation BeoPlay H9. According to sources, the BeoPlay HX can automatically adjust the ANC settings depending on how loud the background noise is surrounding you.

The device is charged using a USB Type-C and supports up to Bluetooth 5.1. The headphones also support aptX Adaptive, AAC, and SBC. The aptX Adaptive cannot reach the 576 kbps bitrate of aptX HD ( which it will replace), but its peak of 420 kbps relies on an improved codec that supposedly sounds as good as aptX HD.

The BeoPlay HX is available to order in black now. B&O will be releasing a white model at the end of April and a brown model in May.
