Barcelona to discuss Ousmane Dembele contract renewal next week

Barcelona are expected to have a meeting to discuss Ousmane Dembele’s new contract very soon. The winger is very happy at the club and wants to continue at Camp Nou. However, his current contract has a release clause worth €50 million which will be active in the summer transfer window.

The renewal he signed last year runs out in 2024, meaning he could leave for free if there is no agreement. However, both parties are calm and optimistic over an agreement when they meet in a few days’ time.

Ousmane Dembele contract talks to take place soon

Xavi Hernandez was key to the France international renewing his deal last time around. And the manager considers him an untouchable part of the squad owing to his contribution. He is one of the most creative attackers, and there is a visible drop in quality when Barcelona play without him.

As a result, Xavi will be pushing for him to stay beyond the current season as he fully believes in Ousmane Dembele. But, there are rumours that the player wants an increased salary which the club might not be able to offer.

His injury record has proved to be a barrier to consistent time in the first team, but the amount of time he has spent on the sidelines has dropped down now. As a result, it will be interesting to see how the negotiations take place in the coming weeks.
