Remember where you were when Avengers: Endgame first broke your heart? Indian audiences are heading back to theatres to relive it. Avengers: Endgame Encore has become the biggest opening weekend ever for a re-release in India.
Avengers: Endgame Encore- Overview
The re-release earned about ₹25.75 crore gross (₹21.25 crore nett) over three days. Including 3D charges, that rises to a record ₹27.75 crore. That beats Baahubali: The Epic, which opened to ₹26.50 crore.
| Day | Gross (excl. 3D) |
|---|---|
| Friday (Day 1) | ₹8.00 crore |
| Saturday (Day 2) | ₹9.00 crore |
| Sunday (Day 3) | ₹8.75 crore |
| Total | ₹25.75 crore (est.) |
Why This Weekend Is Unusual?
Re-releases usually open big and then fade quickly. This one grew from Friday to Saturday. Limited screen availability capped Friday’s numbers, so some of that demand spilled into the weekend, and Monday may see a bit more of it. Word of mouth and pure nostalgia are doing the rest.
Can It Become India’s Biggest Re-Release?
The target is Sanam Teri Kasam‘s ₹42 crore. Trade estimates suggest the film has enough momentum to get there. It should also cross Interstellar‘s ₹29 crore, currently the highest re-release total for a Hollywood film in India.
This is also good news for Avengers: Doomsday, due later this year. Marvel’s pull in India seemed to have faded lately, but this weekend suggests fans are still very much there. Want more box-office and entertainment updates? Browse the latest at Technosports.
