Season 3 is the third and final season of Netflix’s live-action series Avatar: The Last Airbender and will release in 2027. On September 3, 2026, Netflix posted the first look of Season 3, with a picture of Fire Lord Ozai, along with a release date of 2027.
Netflix has not yet announced a specific release date for Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 3, and it is confirmed it won’t release anytime soon. Netflix is currently expected to release the third and final season during summer 2027.
About the Show
The series follows Aang, the last Air Nomad who is also the Avatar, the only person capable of mastering all four elements of fire, air, water, and earth. When the Fire Nation begins a century-long war for global domination, Aang suddenly vanishes. A hundred years later, he is discovered frozen in an iceberg by waterbender Katara and her brother Sokka from the Southern Water Tribe.

The live-action series continues to faithfully adapt the original cartoon, and the third act will be crucial for the story’s conclusion.

Season 1 and Season 2 Timeline
Avatar: The Last Airbender Season 2 aired on June 25, 2026, making it a gap of 2 years and 4 months between the first two seasons. Netflix’s live-action remake returned for its second season in June 2026, and despite a relatively sub-par launch on the streamer for the sophomore season, the show’s upcoming third and final season has already wrapped filming and will complete the story.
Season 2 Overview
The seven-episode Season 2 adapts the events of the beloved original Book Two: Earth, which follows Team Avatar as they journey into the Earth Kingdom to seek an audience with the Earth King and find Aang an earthbending teacher.
What to Expect in the Final Season
Set in an Asiatic, war-torn world where certain people can bend one of the four classical elements, the series follows Aang as the Avatar. With his companions Katara and Sokka, Aang sets out to master the elements while being pursued by the exiled Fire Nation prince Zuko. Season 3 continues Aang’s journey as he faces new challenges and prepares for the ultimate confrontation with the Fire Nation.
