ASUS WT300 Mouse Review: Affordable & Ergonomic

ASUS recently launched a new mouse in the Indian market called the ASUS WT300 which at first didn’t sound too much to be excited about, however, using it for some days I can tell you its kind of special. While the Indian accessoeries market is flooded with options, this ASUS WT300 is being pushed for people who just want a wireless mouse which is ergonomic and simple without much of nonsense.

If you are that kind of person, who doesn’t like to overspend yet need a proper functional wireless mouse which is easy to use this ASUS WT300 is the one for you, priced at only ₹649. Can be purchased anywhere, ASUS looks deep to compete the likes of big players like Lenovo, Dell, HP and others with this new mouse, but is it worth it? Let’s find out in this short review:

What You Will Like

ASUS has made it clear that this WT300 mouse is for those who love ergonomic mouse and love using it for long time, though having almost a flat design with a slight curve, the ease of holding it is immense. Though I love Logitech mouse and love those fat edges which makes it easy to hold but this ASUS WT300 is in league of its own, it is really compact, ergonomic design ensures maximum comfort even after long usage.

In terms of design, its clean and subtle, the black color is simple with that red knob wheel makes it look nice, also there is a white color option which should look even better with same colored wheels. ASUS has used a high-precision optical sensor so that there is no compromise in terms of usability, and I did enjoy using it in my daily chores comfortably for long hours.

The clicking on both the ends worked fine, the scroll wheel also is good, not the best, but does the job pretty well, the sensor’s sensitivity is also good, but could have been a bit more precise. You can adjust the DPI and other settings from the pointed settings as there’s no dedicated DPI wheel or anything but the ASUS WT300 is more of a “no non-sense mouse” just gives what you require the most.

Users can choose in between 1000 DPI and 1600 DPI, if you adjust this, your mouse while feel better and more flexible, also I played CS:GO with this but the latency is not the best when you compare with professional gaming mouse but good for casual players. You have to use a dedicated USB 2.0 dongle that is stored inside the mouse itself to use this ASUS WT300 whenever you need it. In terms of battery life too, ASUS has done a great job, it claims that with a single AA battery, this mouse can last up to 15 months with just 8 hours of everyday use.

What could have been improved

The ASUS WT300 is not perfect obviously, you do not have Bluetooth connectivity so you do have to rely on the USB 2.0 dongle and so its painful to connecting to those laptops which lack USB Type-A port including MacBooks. So, a Bluetooth connectivity would certainly make this mouse even more productive, however, it has been done typically to save costs, but certainly a software support or more buttons could have been implemented to make it more seamless.

Verdict

This new ASUS WT300 wireless mouse at Rs.649 solves the basic purpose of everyday computing needs and is both affordable as well as ergonomic. For the price, it’s a nice option to consider and with some minor drawbacks, overall it performs well in most of your daily work or play, the WT300 mouse feels really nice and considering the price point, this is a value-for-money option.
