Ubisoft finally pulled back the curtain on Assassin’s Creed Shadows, their latest historical RPG adventure set in the captivating era of Feudal Japan.

This new title, previously known under the codename Assassin’s Creed Red, promises a unique experience with dual lead characters, a dynamic world, and innovative gameplay mechanics.

What makes Assassin’s Creed Shadow special?

Dual Lead Character: A Fresh Perspective

One of the most striking features of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the introduction of two playable characters: Yasuke, a real-life historical figure who served as a samurai, and Naoe, a young and determined shinobi. This dual hero approach offers players a chance to experience the world through contrasting lenses.

Yasuke: The Improbable Samurai –

Based on the fascinating figure of African origin who rose to become a samurai under Oda Nobunaga, Yasuke brings a unique perspective to the narrative. Players will experience the world through the eyes of a foreigner navigating the complexities of Japanese society. His combat style revolves around strength and heavy weaponry, making him a force to be reckoned with.

Naoe: The Blade in the Shadows –

Naoe, a 17-year-old shinobi, embodies the stealth and agility associated with the ninja. Her story explores themes of compassion and duty as she fights to protect her people from the ravages of war. Her skillset focuses on parkour, gadgets, and silent takedowns.

This dynamic duo not only provides contrasting game play styles but also offers a nuanced view of the late Sengoku period. Players will witness the events unfold from both sides, gaining a deeper understanding of Nobunaga’s ambitions and the impact of his actions.

A World that Reacts

The world of Assassin’s Creed Shadows isn’t static. It reacts to the character you choose to play as. Naoe, with her ability to blend in, can navigate environments unseen, while Yasuke, a towering figure of foreign origin, commands respect from others. This creates a sense of immersion as your choices and character influence how the world interacts with you.

Beyond Combat: A Focus on Exploration

While Assassin’s Creed is known for its thrilling combat, Shadows promises more. Players can expect a focus on non-linear mission design, encouraging exploration and creative problem-solving. The introduction of destructible environments adds another layer of depth, particularly when unleashing Yasuke’s raw power. Parkour receives an upgrade with the addition of a grappling hook for Naoe, further expanding your traversal options.

Technical Advancements

Assassin’s Creed Shadows leverages a new global illumination system, creating a world where light and shadow play a significant role in game play. Additionally, the game boasts dynamic seasons, adding another layer of immersion to the ever-changing world.
