Asian Games 2023: India Women’s Kabaddi Team Secures Medal with Dominant Win Over Thailand

India’s Women Kabaddi Team Shines

The Indian women’s kabaddi team has taken a giant stride towards glory at the Asian Games 2023 by securing a medal with an emphatic victory over Thailand. Their stellar performance at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre in Hangzhou, China, on Wednesday, has set the stage for a promising run in the tournament.

Champions in the Making

India’s women kabaddi team, known for its dominance in the sport, has a rich history at the Asian Games. Having clinched gold medals in 2010 and 2014 and finishing as runners-up in 2018, they have once again showcased their prowess in Group A.

A Convincing Victory in the Asian Games 2023

The Indian women’s kabaddi team demonstrated their class with a resounding 54-22 win over Thailand. In this high-octane clash, Indian players like Pushpa Rana, Nidhi Sharma, and Pooja Hathwala delivered incisive raids, giving India an early advantage.

A Strong Defense

While the Indian raiders were on fire, the defense had to contend with the relentless Thai raiders. India’s defense thwarted Thailand’s attempts to secure easy bonus points. This disciplined approach paid off as they imposed three all-outs on Thailand in the first half, taking a commanding 32-9 lead.

Thailand’s Fightback

Thailand, determined to stage a comeback, intensified their efforts in the second half. Saowapa Chuekhaow, in particular, posed a significant challenge to the Indian defense and managed to secure a super raid. However, the Indian defenders regrouped and tightened their grip on the match.

Nidhi Sharma Leads the Way

Nidhi Sharma’s exceptional performance in raiding continued to bolster India’s lead. With her consistent point-scoring, India emerged victorious with a comfortable 32-point margin.

Bouncing Back in Style

After a surprising tie with Chinese Taipei in their opening game, the Indian women’s kabaddi team made a statement with a dominating 56-23 win against the Republic of Korea in their second match. This win put them back on the path to success in the tournament.

The Road to Gold

With this win over Thailand, India’s women’s kabaddi team has secured a medal and will now advance to the semi-finals. The stakes are high as they aim to reclaim the gold they missed out on in Jakarta 2018.

Exciting Day Ahead for Indian Sports
