Apple has shocked the world recently with a new M4 OLED iPad Pro release, which appears to be M3 based off of earlier speculations. That move will have Apple refreshing its full range of Macs, from the MacBook Pro to a new-look Mac mini, all using varying blends of this M4 chip and are expected later this year. If you’re chomping at the bit for your next gear refresh, a serious analyst has shared predictions of when the new machines will arrive.

The Upcoming Upgraded Mac Lineup

Apple has held an October event for new Mac upgrades, as major Apple reporter Mark Gurman previously indicated that the event would focus on them. Despite a very minor design changes in the MacBook Pro models, there could be significant reduction in size for the Mac mini. Gurman earlier teased that these improvements would be available “in the next few weeks,” which implied an October release. Nonetheless, he has since moved this timeline forward to ‘this year’ in his latest report, which suggests there may be some hangups delaying its launch from prior expectations.

Do keep in mind, however, that new versions of the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac with M4 chips are still expected to be launched this year so these probably will not launch until closer to the end of the year. With Apple giving the MacBook Pro and iMac an update on October 30 of last year, this gives us a potential window for when we could see those M4 refreshes. Users can anticipate several upgrades across the Mac lineup, including the redesigned Mac mini.

The M4 chip is expected to deliver significant performance enhancements, boasting up to 10 CPU cores compared to the 8 cores found in the M3 chip, potentially increasing performance by 25%. Additionally, Apple plans to introduce M4 Pro and M4 Max chips for the MacBook Pro models, but these won’t be the only new devices unveiled.

Apple will also refresh the 24-inch iMac and the new Mac mini, which is anticipated to have a much smaller form factor. In a surprising move, the company will also release the new iPad mini 7, featuring a powerful A-series chip, likely the A17 Pro or A18, to enhance its Apple Intelligence capabilities. Stay tuned for more updates on these exciting developments.
