According to the sources, on October 1, India announced the introduction of 5G services in the nation. Telcos immediately began rolling out 5G services, with Airtel taking the lead and introducing 5G across eight cities on the same day.
In four cities, Reliance Jio launched a 5G service experiment around Dussehra. You can use 5G if you have an Airtel or Jio SIM and reside in a city where the telecoms have begun to offer the service, except if you own an iPhone.
Apple Users and 5G Update
We came to know that Apple has not yet released an upgrade to make 5G services available in India on its 5G-compatible devices. Therefore, despite owning a 5G-compatible smartphone and residing in a 5G area, iPhone customers are presently unable to utilize 5G services.
Based on the sources, to access 5G, iPhone owners may have to wait until December, as this is not likely to change any time soon. According to Apple, a patch to enable 5G services will be released in December.
Additionally, Apple stated in a statement that they are collaborating with its carrier partners in India to provide iPhone users with the finest 5G experience as soon as network validation and performance tests are finished. In December, iPhone owners will begin to receive software updates that allow 5G.
Update Arriving by December
Therefore, it seems that iPhone users may have to wait for a long time before they will be able to use 5G services. As the Cupertino giant has said that the updates will start rolling out to iPhone users in December, it may take some time before all users receive the update, so, users may have to wait until next year to use 5G on iPhones.
This comes when the Indian government has called for a meeting to discuss a speedy rollout of software updates to enable 5G services. Interestingly, Apple is one of the companies that has been asked to attend the meeting.
Manufacturers of smartphones including Xiaomi, Vivo, Realme, Oppo, and others have released upgrades to make 5G services available on their models. The distribution has already been launched by well-known businesses like OnePlus and Samsung, and numerous of their devices have already received updates.
