Apple and Samsung witness growth in European smartphone markets despite an overall decline

The global smartphone markets have witnessed a decline in 2022, the fall has hit Europe the worst as it has seen the most decline in comparison to other markets. However, for tech pioneers such as Samsung and Apple, this fall means nothing as they have beaten the market and have witnessed growth.

Counterpoint Research has found that the tech giants recorded a positive growth despite selling fewer units

The world’s smartphone market fell by 3 % while Europe witnessed a rather harsh 11% decline in Q2 of 2022 as opposed to the 11% fall in Q1. Between April and June, there were a total of 40 million smartphone shipments sold as per Counterpoint’s study.

The pandemic’s impact is still being felt throughout the industry but another factor that has led to the decline is the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine. The looming threat of a recession has the market rather shaky and the rates of smartphones launching recently have been significantly higher.

The Cupertino giant and the South Korean tech company witnessed a positive trend in Q2 of 2022 despite selling fewer devices in Europe in Q2 of 2022 in comparison to the previous quarter. They are followed by Xiaomi who managed to see a bit of growth but brands like Oppo and Realme came in at fourth and fifth respectively. Both the Chinese companies witnessed a decline similar to the entire European region.
