Anthropic and AWS just made enterprise AI considerably less complicated. Claude Platform on AWS is now generally available, giving customers direct access to Anthropic’s native Claude Platform experience through their existing AWS account — with no separate credentials, contracts, or billing relationships required. AWS is the first cloud provider to offer access to the native Claude Platform experience.

For the tens of thousands of engineering teams already running infrastructure on AWS, this removes the single biggest friction point in adopting Claude at scale: managing two separate vendor relationships.

What Is Claude Platform on AWS — And How Is It Different From Bedrock?

This is the question most developers will ask first, and the answer matters.

Both Claude Platform on AWS and Claude on Amazon Bedrock enable AWS customers to build on Claude models. The key difference is in who operates the service and which features are available. Claude Platform on AWS is a first-of-its-kind offering from Anthropic, giving you all native Claude API features from day one — operated by Anthropic, with data processed outside the AWS boundary.

Claude on Amazon Bedrock, by contrast, keeps AWS as the data processor and operates entirely within the AWS boundary — with AWS-managed features like Guardrails, Knowledge Bases, and regional data residency.

In short: if you need strict regional data residency, stay on Bedrock. If you want Anthropic’s full native feature set and day-one access to every new capability, Claude Platform on AWS is the choice.

Full Feature Parity From Day One

With Claude Platform on AWS, teams work with the same APIs, features, and console experience available directly through Anthropic — including the Messages API, Claude Managed Agents (beta), web search and web fetch, MCP connector (beta), Agent Skills (beta), code execution, and the Files API (beta).

Claude Platform on AWS customers also get access to the Claude Console, Anthropic’s development environment for building and testing. The Console includes a prompt improver, prompt generator, and evaluation tools. Claude Opus 4.7, Sonnet 4.6, and Haiku 4.5 are available today, with new models shipping on Claude Platform on AWS as they launch.

For developers building with Claude Code or the Anthropic SDK, this means the same tools they use locally connect seamlessly to the AWS-billed deployment environment.

AWS Integration: IAM, CloudTrail, Cost Explorer

The infrastructure integration is where this announcement gets genuinely useful for enterprise teams.

Use existing AWS credentials and IAM policies to access the Claude Platform — no separate Anthropic accounts or API keys to manage. Access control follows the same least-privilege and tag-based authorisation patterns used across AWS.

AWS CloudTrail captures all requests to Claude Platform on AWS — whether from the Anthropic SDK, Claude Code, or Cowork — as management events by default. Usage is billed through AWS Marketplace, so costs appear in AWS Cost Explorer alongside all other cloud services, with resource tag-based spending allocation supported.

For security teams and CFOs, this is significant. AI API spend is notoriously hard to track and govern when it lives in a separate billing relationship. Bringing it into AWS Cost Explorer with CloudTrail audit trails closes that governance gap entirely.

Global Availability

Claude Platform on AWS is available across 18 regions at launch, spanning US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (Oregon), Canada, South America (São Paulo), Europe (Dublin, London, Frankfurt, Milan, Zurich, Paris, Stockholm), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo, Seoul, Jakarta, Sydney, Melbourne).

For Indian enterprises using AWS infrastructure — particularly those in the Mumbai region looking at adjacent deployments — the Asia Pacific availability confirms this is a globally committed rollout, not a US-first beta.

The Bigger Picture: A $100 Billion AWS Commitment

This launch sits within a dramatically expanded Anthropic-Amazon partnership. Amazon has invested $5 billion in Anthropic, with up to an additional $20 billion committed going forward — building on $8 billion previously invested. Anthropic has committed more than $100 billion over ten years to AWS technologies, securing up to 5 gigawatts of compute capacity to train and run Claude, spanning Trainium2 through Trainium4 chips.

Anthropic’s run-rate revenue has now surpassed $30 billion, up from approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025 — and Claude remains the only frontier AI model available on all three of the world’s largest cloud platforms: AWS Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Azure Foundry.

The Bottom Line

Claude Platform on AWS is not just a convenience update for AWS customers. It is the structural move that makes Claude the path-of-least-resistance AI platform for any organisation already standardised on AWS — no new vendor, no new security review, no new contract. One account, one bill, full native Claude. For enterprise developers, that combination is hard to argue with.
