AMD Releases Adrenalin 25.12.1 Driver with FSR 4 Redstone

AMD has launched the Adrenalin Edition 25.12.1 WHQL driver, headlined by support for AMD FSR 4 “Redstone”—the company’s next-generation FidelityFX Super Resolution technology. The update also adds support for new Radeon AI PRO GPUs and delivers critical bug fixes.

FSR 4 Redstone Technology

FSR Redstone is powered by machine learning (ML), featuring Neural Radiance Caching, ML-accelerated Ray Regeneration, and ML-accelerated Frame Generation. The technology delivers:

• FSR Upscaling: Reconstructs high-quality visuals from low-resolution frames
• FSR Frame Generation: Predicts and inserts new frames for smoother gameplay
• FSR Ray Regeneration: Restores full-quality ray-traced detail from sparse samples
• FSR Radiance Caching: Predicts light propagation for efficient real-time global illumination

FSR 4 Redstone is exclusively supported on Radeon RX 9000-series RDNA 4-based graphics cards, while older RDNA 3 and RDNA 2 cards continue using FSR 3.1.

New Hardware Support

The driver adds compatibility for AMD Radeon AI PRO R9600D and Radeon AI PRO R9700S, expected to debut at CES 2026. The R9700S is a server-optimised passive-cooled variant, while the R9600D offers a more affordable option.

Fixed Issues

The 25.12.1 update resolves several critical problems:

• HDMI 2.1 displays: System crashes during standby

Technical Details

The driver exposes OpenGL 4.6 with 320 extensions, Vulkan 1.3.325 with 207 device extensions, and OpenCL 2.1 with 24 extensions for Radeon RX 9070 XT on Windows 10/11.
