Ram Charan’s Post-Peddi Plans : Overview

Two Years of Pain — The Real Cost of Peddi

This wasn’t just an acting job. After dedicating more than two years of intense preparation and extreme physical modification for the titular role of Peddi, Ram Charan is gearing up to take a well-deserved three-month break from all active sets.

The role took a massive toll on the actor. He is said to have battled multiple injuries throughout the production timeline, yet he successfully recovered each time to complete the high-octane shoot right on schedule. To successfully portray the protagonist, the actor gained the look of a professional athlete.

In Peddi, Ram Charan plays a wrestler and cricketer-for-hire who plays for any team willing to pay him, joined by Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Boman Irani, Ravi Kishan, and others. Getting that body ready for dual sporting roles wasn’t a 3-month prep — it was a full lifestyle overhaul.

The kind of physical transformation demanded by such roles has become increasingly common in Indian cinema, but few commit to it at the level Ram Charan reportedly did for Peddi.

Why the Break — and What Comes Next

The timing of this break aligns perfectly with minor adjustments taking place in his upcoming lineup. With director Sukumar’s highly anticipated next collaboration reportedly delayed, Charan is expected to use this open window to recover, recharge, and spend quality time with his family. Reports claim that he will not be accepting any new acting assignments during this ninety-day gap.

There’s also a very practical reason for the pause. The actor plans to use this transitional period to gradually tone down his intense athletic look before stepping into his next avatar. Going from professional-athlete physique to whatever Sukumar envisions requires its own careful physical recalibration.

Sukumar and Ram Charan’s collaborative feature is currently expected to officially kick off early next year, with top-tier production house Mythri Movie Makers on board as producers. pinkvilla
