Manchester City has officially received a first offer from AC Milan for their experienced full-back Kyle Walker. The 34-year-old defender is poised to bid farewell to the Premier League champions as he eyes a new challenge abroad.

Reports suggest that Walker has already expressed his interest in the move, signaling the potential end of an illustrious eight-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.

AC Milan Leads the Chase for Walker

Kyle Walker’s intent to leave Manchester City was made clear after discussions with Pep Guardiola, with AC Milan emerging as the frontrunners for his signature. While initial rumors hinted at city rivals Inter Milan attempting to hijack the deal, those speculations have subsided, leaving Milan in pole position. French publication L’Equipe has confirmed Milan’s first bid for Walker, though the details remain undisclosed.

Adding to the intrigue, AC Milan Senior Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimović commented on the pursuit, saying: “Kyle Walker is a top player, a big leader… we’re checking what we can do for that deal, yes. We will see.”

Further negotiations between the two clubs are expected to unfold within the next 24 to 48 hours. Walker, a player synonymous with City’s domestic and European success, will not feature in their upcoming Premier League clash against Ipswich Town.

A Glittering Career at Manchester City

Walker’s departure would mark the end of a trophy-laden tenure with Manchester City, during which he contributed significantly to the club’s success. Since joining the club in 2017, Walker has been pivotal in securing 17 titles, including multiple Premier League crowns, FA Cups, and a coveted UEFA Champions League trophy.

The English defender’s consistency, versatility, and leadership have made him a standout figure in Guardiola’s setup. However, at 34, the veteran full-back appears ready for a fresh challenge, with Serie A offering the perfect stage for his next chapter.

City’s Search for a Successor

With Walker’s exit imminent, Manchester City has turned its attention toward potential replacements. Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso has been identified as a primary target, though the 24-year-old’s price tag is expected to exceed €60 million. Cambiaso, known for his technical ability and defensive prowess, is seen as a promising successor to Walker.

Additionally, City is nearing deals for young center-backs Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis from Lens and Palmeiras, respectively. The club has also finalized terms with Eintracht Frankfurt for the acquisition of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, signaling a busy transfer window for Guardiola’s side.

Off-Field Developments Linked to Walker

Walker’s off-field life has also drawn media attention, with past relationships adding complexity to his personal narrative. Lauryn Goodman, who shares two children with Walker, recently opened up about her focus on family and a stable future away from the challenges of her past.

Despite their history, Goodman has expressed a commitment to providing a nurturing environment for her children. Reports suggest that she is planning a potential move abroad, possibly to Dubai, as she continues to prioritize her role as a mother.

With Zlatan Ibrahimović praising Walker as a “top player” and Milan’s interest gathering momentum, this transfer could prove to be one of the most significant moves of the January window.
