Aamir Khan Unveils ‘Ek Din Ki Mehfil’: A Bold New Alliance for Indian Music’s Future

Aamir Khan announced “Ek Din Ki Mehfil” on April 21, 2026. The initiative gives emerging artists across India a real shot at making it in the competitive music world.

The first event happens at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on June 15, 2026. Twenty emerging artists will perform across different genres—a meaningful move toward supporting fresh talent in Indian music.

Aamir Khan’s Vision: A Platform for New Voices

When announcing the project, Aamir Khan talked about his passion for helping new musicians get their break. “Ek Din Ki Mehfil” isn’t just a one-off event—it’s a movement designed to discover and promote at least 100 new artists over the next five years.

T-Series, a major music label, backs the initiative, which gives the project serious credibility and distribution power. Khan wants to build something lasting: an ecosystem where talented artists can get noticed and grow, even if they’d normally struggle to break through in such a crowded field.

The event will bring together a mix of performances, with artists selected from across India. Organizations like Zee Music, PVR Cinemas, and Kommune are helping scout talent nationwide. Times of India Entertainment has confirmed the details.

This kind of partnership shows a real shift in how emerging artists can find their way into the industry.

The Impact on India’s Music Industry

“Ek Din Ki Mehfil” could change how emerging artists build their careers in India. Shows like “Sa Re Ga Ma” and “Indian Idol” have dominated for years, but there’s clearly hunger for more ways for fresh voices to get heard.

Aamir’s project fills that gap. It gives artists a stage who might never get a shot at mainstream competitions. That’s a real disruption to how success traditionally happens in music, and it could level the playing field.

Then there’s T-Series. The label brings serious firepower—a massive distribution network that can get participating artists in front of way more people.

You might see this spark a bigger trend: music labels getting into talent development instead of just chasing commercial hits.
