Vivo is reportedly preparing to unveil its next-generation foldable, the Vivo X Fold 5, on July 10, skipping the “X Fold 4” name likely due to tetraphobia—a cultural aversion to the number four in some Asian regions. This will follow the launch of the Vivo X Fold 3, which was then introduced in March 2024.

Vivo X Fold 5 to Launch on July 10: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, 8.03″ 2K Display, 6,000mAh Battery & 90W Charging
According to leaks by XpertPick and tipster Yogesh Brar, the Vivo X Fold 5 is to feature an 8.03-inch foldable AMOLED inner display with 2K+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, with the outer screen being a 6.53-inch LTETO OLED panel, also with a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the foldable will be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, which should be accompanied by 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. This is the same chip as last year’s X Fold 3 Pro, meaning it gets unrealistic flagship-level performance.
The camera system is also likely to be impressive and consists of a 50MP triple rear camera setup – a Sony IMX921 main sensor alongside an ultrawide lens with autofocus abilities and a 3x optical zoom Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens.
Dual 32MP selfie cameras are said to be positioned on both the inner and outer displays. A major highlight is the massive 6,000mAh battery, a bump from the X Fold 3’s 5,500mAh, with support for 90W wired and 30W wireless charging. This could make it the largest battery in a foldable phone to date.
Additional features may include Zeiss optics, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a three-stage alert slider, and an IP rating, though the latter’s specifics are yet to be confirmed. When unfolded, the device could measure just 4.3mm in thickness, and 9.33mm when folded. With its flagship-grade hardware, refined design, and top-tier charging tech, the Vivo X Fold 5 is shaping up to be a strong contender in the premium foldable segment.
