New Motorola Phone on BIS Certification, Could Be ‘Houston’ Model

Motorola seems to be working on a new smartphone for India, as a device has been spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website. This listing indicates that the device may launch soon. The smartphone was also recently seen on the IMEI database, hinting that it is coming. The phone on BIS has the model number XT2517-4, which is likely to be the Indian variant.

The same device which has been listed under the codename, ‘Houston’, has also been spotted with a handful of model numbers — XT2517-V, XT2517-1, XT2517-2, and XT2517-3, suggesting that it’ll be launched in multiple markets around the globe as well. The ‘XT25’ prefix of the model number suggests the device could hit the market in 2025. As per reports, the Motorola Houston may be an affordable smartphone within the Motorola facility lineup as a part of Motorola’s G or E series. There are few details about the specifications known, but the device is expected to target the budget category, delivering key features at a low price point.

Besides the Houston, Motorola is said to be working on another foldable phone in the pipeline under the codename ‘Orion.’ The newly surfaced phone, bearing the model number XT2551-3, is expected to be the Razr 60 Ultra, the successor device to the previous XT2451 Razr phone. That also means the new foldable phone will likely make its first appearance in 2025, which would tack more foldables onto Motorola’s growing lineup.

As for Motorola, the company has announced three new G-series phones and one E-series phone for the global market just recently. We could also see the new models—G05, G15, G15 Power and E15 coming to India, as their predecessors have turned out to be quite popular in the region.
