Barcelona manager Xavi could end up staying at the club, in spite of announcing his departure earlier in the season. The Spaniard has been repeatedly asked at press conferences whether there is a way to change his mind, but he has insisted that he will not stay beyond this season.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Xavi could stay if club president Joan Laporta can guarantee several conditions for next season.
Xavi could stay at Barcelona provided certain conditions are met
Firstly, Barcelona must not sell any key players next season, which will help them stay competitive. Moreover, a new midfielder such as Martin Zubimendi, Joshua Kimmich or Bernardo Silva must be signed.
Barca must also sign several players of Xavi’s choosing to strengthen their squad for the new season. If these three conditions are met, then Xavi might change his mind and continue at the club, as per Deportivo.
However, it doesn’t seem like the former midfielder will go back on his word considering how frequently he has reinforced his decision. The results have been positive for the club and they have found their rhythm lately, with the win against PSG proving to be the latest chapter.
Barcelona have a 3-2 advantage in the tie and could advance to the semifinals for the first time in years if they can hold on to or extend their lead.
