Barcelona have been all over the news as of late, and among the many tumultuous reports that have surfaced over the last few days, there emerges some good news in the form of Marc Andre Ter-Stegen who is ever closer to sign a new deal at Barcelona which will extend his stay at the club till 2025 at the very least.
Considering that Barcelona have not had the most secure financial status in recent times, the news that the second-best player in the team is committing to the club is surely one that fans have been craving for months on end.Â
Multiple sources, including Ter-Stegen’s agent, Mundo Deportivo, as well as renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano have made it clear that the German keeper is set to stay and be a vital part of the new project at Camp Nou under Ronald Koeman. Â
An official announcement by the club is expected to be right around the corner. In addition, Barcelona are expected to offer an update on his injury as well.
The 28-year-old is currently out injured due to a knee surgery that took place late in August. However, it would be realistic to believe that Barca’s undisputed number 1 will be back between the sticks before 2020 ends.
Having already spent six very valuable years at Barcelona, Ter-Stegen is one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now and is rightfully challenging Manuel Neuer for a place between the sticks in the German national team.
Due to his injury, it seems unlikely that the keeper will make the group stages of the Nations League either but it is extremely likely that he will back before the knockout stage begins.
In addition, he is also assured to be a part of the Germany squad for Euro 2021, being one of their best players.Â
