Realme GT 5 Pro’s 50MP IMX890 Periscope Telephoto Camera Samples Revealed

The forthcoming Realme GT 5 Pro is set to be the brand’s pioneer in incorporating a periscope telephoto camera, featuring a 50-megapixel IMX890 camera sensor for periscope zoom functionality. In collaboration with the renowned Chinese director, screenwriter, and producer, Lu Chuan, Realme has shared camera samples showcasing the capabilities of the IMX890 sensor.

The periscope telephoto lens on the Realme GT 5 Pro is claimed to offer superior light sensitivity compared to counterparts on other smartphones. It is designed to provide main-camera-level image quality across commonly used focal lengths, boasting capabilities such as 3x optical zoom and 6x lossless zoom. Moreover, it purportedly maintains excellent clarity even at extreme zoom levels of up to 120x. Realme asserts that the IMX890 can capture portrait shots at SLR-level quality.

Regarding specifications, Realme has officially stated that the rear camera setup of the Realme GT 5 Pro will feature a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-808 main camera with OIS support, the same primary camera expected on the upcoming OnePlus 12. Additionally, it will include an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 ultra-wide lens. For selfies, the device will feature a 32-megapixel front camera.

The Realme GT 5 Pro is confirmed to showcase a 6.78-inch curved-edge OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Powering the device is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, complemented by up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

A robust 5,400mAh battery, supporting 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, will energize the GT 5 Pro. Realme guarantees three Android OS upgrades and four years of security updates for the device, which will come preloaded with Realme UI 5.0 based on Android 14. The inclusion of an in-screen fingerprint scanner adds an extra layer of security to the device.
