LeBron James is an icon, having the most points of all-time in the NBA. But, the legendary ball-carrier now has a rather unwanted record of being the first player with 5,000 turnovers against him. He surpassed the previous holder of that record, Karl Malone with 4,525 turnovers two years ago in 2021.Â
And now, he has set another milestone with 5,000 to his name in the 1,429 games that he has played. Putting the numbers into perspective, he averages 3.50 TO PG, which is not the worst, as it has been exceeded by players like Russell Westbrook and James Harden.
LeBron James surpasses 5,000 turnovers markÂ
The Lakers legend boasts an insane longevity, with a career spanning 21 seasons. And considering the role he plays in the team, having a high number of turnovers is expected. It seems unlikely that James’ record will be matched anytime soon, but one can never tell in sport with records meant to be broken.
Both Harden and Westbrook have only recently completed the 1,000 game mark in their careers. As a result, it seems highly unlikely that either player will be able to match LeBron James’ record for turnovers.
