MEMORABLE WIN FOR 10-MAN INDIA U20 OVER ARGENTINA U20 FOOTBALL TEAM
A historic win for India U-20 football team to have beaten the six-time U-20 World Cup champions. The Indian U-20 national team beat Argentina U-20 by a scoreline of 2-1 in the COTIF Cup 2018, on Monday.
The Indians couldn’t have asked for a better start as Tangri headed the ball at the back of the net from a corner taken by Ninthoiganba Meetei in the fourth minute.
As a result of this early lead, the team spirit got a boost. They kept reaching again and again into the Argentine box, with two shots on target which was declared off-side.
Just when everything was going well, Jadhav was shown the red card and thus the India U-20 side was reduced to 10 men in the 50th minute.
The Indians showed stiff resistance in defense line, as they refused Argentina a number of times.
India got their second goal from a brilliantly taken free-kick by Anwar Ali. Now even the 10 men army was playing with such a confidence that it looked really promising.
However, it was not going to be a clean-sheet for Indians as the Argentines netted one in the 72nd minute.
India held on to their nerves to safeguard their one-goal lead and was ultimately successful in winning it. A new history was created for Indian Football.
