Guardians of the Galaxy is MCU’s most awaited show for MCU universe. Marvel Studios previously filmed with Guardians had featured a major member of the Avengers, or the Avengers name itself. Apart from Spider-Man or Batman, Captain America and Iron Man at least lived in the cultural consciousness.
The Guardians of the Galaxy did not. James Gunn, meanwhile, had directed a small handful of gory movies, including the dark superhero comedy, Super.
The first look of the third instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise is really amazing. In some footage, we have seen Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock, Rocket Raccoon’s origin tale containing his girlfriend, Lylla, Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, and many more. The new trailer really wet your eyes. At the Comic-Con Experience (CCXP) in São Paulo, Brazil, this year, one of the main events kicked off with the panel on Disney’s Marvel Studios, anticipating more upcoming adventures for the franchise’s Phase 5.
The final entry into the Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 3 will also mark director James Gunn’s departure from the MCU, and is all set for a 2023 summer theatrical release on May 5. Now, the first official trailer of the film is out.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3: Plot
Guardians have tried to make Knowhere, with a prominent location from the first two movies. Now, they got their home and the universe was threatened by a new enemy. Adam Warlock had teased at the end of Guardians Vol. 2. In Marvel comics, he represents a heroic character and a perfect being created by Earth scientists who rebels against his creators.
In the trailer, we spot Gamora who is now joined by the Ravagers, now finally trying to come up with an explanation to Peter Quill that the Gamora he’s in love with is no longer here. Together with Drax, Mantis, Rocket, and Nebula they are headed towards an unknown territory across the universe, into a planet that has human-like inhabitants with animal faces. The teaser launched shortly after the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which gave us a glimpse of actor Kevin Bacon, a new entrant to the MCU. The holiday special also revealed that Mantis is Quill’s sister, and Kurt Russell’s Ego is the father.
In the Infinity War saga, Warlock heavily gets in the comics, as one of the very few beings that can safely wield the Infinity Gauntlet. After teasing Guardians Vol. 2, assumed by many fans that he would identify with the Infinity Saga finale as well, though that never came to be. The Infinity gems are not a picture, but Warlock has lots of other stories to tell.
Additionally, the new cast member Chukwudi Iwuji is playing the aforementioned High Evolutionary, which also figures into Rocket Raccoon’s origin story. Additionally, the planet the Guardians land on in the movie’s first full trailer appears to be the Counter-Earth from the comics, an Earth-like planet populated by humanoid animals.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3: Cast
Guardians’ new film features Chris Pratt as Star-Lord/Peter Quill, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, and Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel as the voices of Rocket the Racoon and Groot. Other returning members include James’ brother Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, and Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord.
Most prominent among new cast members is Will Poulter as Adam Warlock. Poulter is previously best known for his roles in The Maze Runner and We’re The Millers. Actors from previous Gunn projects will show up as well. Daniela Melchior and Chukwudi Iwuji have joined the cast, as has Maria Bakalova, who debuted as the voice of Cosmo the Spacedog, a psychic dog from the Russian space program, in the Holiday Special.
