Union Berlin continued their remarkable start to the Bundesliga season with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund. The black and yellow club were stunned by the table toppers, who are four points clear above Bayern Munich in second place now.
Both goals in the game were scored by Janik Haberer in the first half, which gave the hosts a comfortable lead to defend for the remainder of the game. By the end of the game, Dortmund had 77% of possession, but only one more shot on target than their opponents.
Union Berlin overcome Dortmund to stay at the top of the Bundesliga
The visitors only had themselves to blame for the goals conceded. An error from Gregor Kobel allowed Haberer in on goal to score the opener. Karim Adeyemi lost the ball in midfield, which led to the German scoring his second goal of the game.
Following their defeat, Dortmund are eighth in the table with only 16 points from ten games this season. Their inconsistent form has been on show from the beginning, and must be corrected if their Champions League ambitions for next season are to be achieved.
With the clean sheet, Union Berlin continue to have the best defensive record in the Bundesliga as they maintain their position at the top of the table.
