Harry Kane Makes History as Fastest Player Ever to Score 100 Bundesliga Goals

Harry Kane has rewritten the Bundesliga record books once again, becoming the fastest player in the competition’s history to reach 100 goals. The England captain hit the milestone in just his 98th league appearance for Bayern Munich, smashing a record that had stood since the 1970s.

How It Happened

Kane converted the record-breaking goal from the penalty spot in the 39th minute after Michael Olise was fouled inside the box by Tom Rothe. He wasn’t done there — Kane added a second in the 54th minute, heading in another Olise assist to move to 101 league goals, as Bayern ran riot with a 7-0 demolition of Union Berlin. Olise himself scored a hat-trick in the rout, with Jamal Musiala and Ismael Saibari also finding the net.

Smashing a Decades-Old Record

The previous record for fastest to 100 Bundesliga goals belonged to Dieter Müller, who needed 129 appearances for Cologne back in the 1970s. Kane got there in 98 games — 31 fewer matches, or roughly an entire Bundesliga season’s worth of fixtures saved. Speaking after the match, Kane called the achievement a source of real pride, noting he’d already reached the milestone in the Premier League and that doing it in a different league meant a great deal to him, while crediting his teammates for the achievement.

An Elite Strike Rate

Since joining Bayern from Tottenham in the summer of 2023, Kane has averaged a goal roughly every 78 minutes in the Bundesliga — a rate that puts him ahead of some of the competition’s greatest-ever forwards. For comparison, Erling Haaland averaged a goal every 87 minutes during his Borussia Dortmund spell, while legends Robert Lewandowski and Gerd Müller sit at roughly 100 and 105 minutes respectively. Kane’s season-by-season Bundesliga output has been remarkably consistent: 36 goals in his debut campaign, 26 in 2024-25, and 35 last season, on top of three goals in four appearances so far this term.

Part of a Wider Scoring Legacy at Bayern

This isn’t the first record Kane has broken in Bavaria. Back in September 2025, he became the fastest player to score 100 goals for a single club across Europe’s top five leagues, reaching that mark in just 104 appearances — quicker than the 105 games it took both Erling Haaland at Manchester City and Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid to do the same. With 152 goals in 154 total appearances across all competitions now, Kane is on pace to potentially reach a double century for Bayern before his current contract cycle winds down.

Context: A Dominant Season for Bayern and Kane

Kane’s milestone continues a hugely productive year both individually and collectively. He scored 61 goals in all competitions last season as Bayern retained the Bundesliga title, with the club setting a league scoring record of 112 goals along the way. Kane has also claimed the Bundesliga’s Torjägerkanone (top scorer award) in each of his first three seasons in Germany — a feat no player had achieved before him in their opening three campaigns in the league.

Why It Matters

Kane’s move to Bayern in 2023 was viewed by many as a gamble on a 30-year-old striker switching leagues for the first time in his career. Three years on, the numbers make clear it’s been one of the most productive transfers in recent Bundesliga history, with Kane now holding both the club-level and league-level speed records for reaching a century of goals in Germany’s top flight.
