Daniel Wass will be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer despite only joining the club in January. The 33-year-old is expected to return to Brondby, with whom he started his professional career.

A full agreement is in place between the two clubs for the transfer, and a medical has already been conducted. He has passed the medical and has completed the formalities for the move. Despite having a year left on his contract, he will be officially announced as a new player for the Danish side in the coming days.

The player can feature as a right-back, or a central midfielder. As a result, he was signed as a replacement for Kieran Trippier, who left for Newcastle United when the new owners of the club took over. However, Wass made only one appearance under Diego Simeone before picking up an injury.

Wass has signed a three-year contract with his boyhood club, who will be paying him €1.5 million in wages per season.

Atletico have now signed Nahuel Molina as the new first choice right-back for the coming seasons. The 24-year-old will be expected to start the majority of games, and will be replacing Daniel Wass in the line-up. Axel Witsel has also been recruited to bolster the midfield and potentially the centre-back position as well.
