The Apple Watch appears to be a superhero of its own kind, this time a man was recently swept off into the sea, however, owing to the smartwatch, he was able to get back to land safely due to the emergency SOS feature.
The Apple Watch’s SOS function helps users contact emergency services
Earlier last week, the wearable was responsible for saving the life of a stranded woman who was trapped in an icy river. This time, the Watch has managed to save the life of a man owing to its emergency SOS feature.
This time, the incident took place on the north coast of Sydney Australia, a man who was kayaking, unfortunately, ended up drifting nearly 4 kilometers off the coast and he was unable to paddle his way back to shore due to the force of the winds.
He should thank his lucky stars as he had his Apple Watch on, this allowed him to signal for help by activating the emergency SOS function. If you did not already know, this feature lets users contact emergency services and you can also share your locations with the relevant authorities.
As per DailyMail, the rescue ops were difficult but they managed to successfully complete them. One of the rescuers claimed that the man was “falling out of his kayak and had taken on quite a bit of water. He was lucky he had a connection on his device to make that desperate call for help.”
Once the kayaker was rescued, he was put aboard a helicopter where he was treated for his fatigue and hypothermia. With this, Apple will be able to brag about the life-saving capabilities of its devices.
