Barcelona is expected to join Real Madrid in the chase for Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe. This summer, the 23-year-contract old’s will expire.

Barcelona is willing to sign the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, according to L’equipe.fr. According to reports, Mbappe has his heart set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, but a move to the Camp Nou could tempt him.

Target Kylian Mbappe

Considering Madrid’s dominance in La Liga and reaching the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, Barcelona is also on the rise. When Xavi Hernandez took command, the Blaugrana were in ninth place in the league table.

They have advanced to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals after climbing to third place in the league rankings. In five of their last six games, Barcelona has scored four goals in all competitions. Xavi wants to establish a dynasty at Camp Nou, so he’ll be looking to make some big additions this summer.

While with PSG, Mbappe has developed into one of the best players in the world. In 208 appearances for the team, he has 158 goals and 77 assists. This season, he has been their talisman, scoring 26 goals and dishing out 17 assists in 37 games.

The Frenchman’s contract expires in less than four months, and he will become a free agent. Mbappe’s departure could be hastened by PSG’s loss from the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 and their dismal recent showing in Ligue 1.

Barcelona and Their Sponsorship

Barcelona has secured a four-year sponsorship deal with Spotify, according to ESPN, which will see the club’s stadium renamed Spotify Camp Nou.

The transaction is expected to be worth €280 million. This could enable the club to pay off a significant amount of its debts (€1.35 billion) and give the finances needed to sign their top transfer targets this summer.

Mbappe, 23, is one of the highest-paid footballers in the world, earning £375,000 per week at PSG. Barcelona will have to make a massive offer to the Frenchman in an attempt to induce him to join them this summer instead of Real Madrid.
