IPL 2022: The official schedule is here with CSK vs KKR set to kick start the tournament

The IPL schedule for 2022 has finally been released, The opening match is going to be played on March 26 between Chennai Super Kings led by MS Dhoni and Kolkata Knight Riders led by Shreyas Iyer. Sunday is going to be a doubleheader day with the first match played at 3:30 pm IST and the second match played at 7:30 pm IST. The schedule for 70 matches is out till May 22, the final will be on May 29 however the fixture for the playoffs will be announced later.

The last game for IPL 2022 will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings on May 22 at 7:30 PM at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans will face each other on March 28 at the Wankhede stadium for the first time.

BCCI will try its best to reduce foreign players due to quarantine though it’s necessary for every foreign player to go through a three day quarantine period after arriving.

“It’s too early to say where the playoffs will be. Ahmedabad is a good option if we can get at least a 50% crowd. We are working on that. We are hoping to announce the playoff schedule closer to the start date,” the official said.

“Look, the Covid numbers are low and that’s why we have been pondering three-day quarantine instead of five. But a decision is yet to be reached on this. Most of the foreign players will arrive after spending time in bio-bubble and we don’t want to extend that period any further than necessary,” as per reports
