The delay was due in part to the fact that “when [the team] set out to build a fresh new game befitting of the Evil Dead name, we knew it had to be groovy as hell,” according to Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games on Twitter. They felt the delay was necessary ” to give the finest possible experience” to ensure they met their target.
“This delay gives our team the time they need to get things just right, so your boomstick will be polished, fully loaded, and ready to blast Deadites on that Friday the 13th of May,” Evil Dead: The Game’s Twitter account wrote. “We thank you for your patience and understanding.”
They followed up with a Tweet stating that fans won’t have to wait “too long” for additional information about Evil Dead: The Game, and that pre-order details and a brand-new trailer will be available in February.
The Game Awards 2020 revealed Evil Dead: The Game, which will feature co-op and PvP action as well as the return of Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams.
Certain players will be tasked with “sealing the rift between worlds,” while others will “take control of the mighty Kandarian Demon to chase Ash and his pals while possessing Deadites, the environment, and even the survivors themselves” throughout any particular match.
The iconic home in the woods will serve as a map, and Ash’s distinctive chainsaw will serve as a destructive weapon in Evil Dead: The Game.
“I’m excited to be strapping on the chainsaw one more time,” said Campbell. “Boss Team and Saber Interactive are planning a huge immersive dealio, and I knew I had to come back. You’ll be able to step into my shoes and kick some Deadite ass!”
