Monaco President Vadim Vasilyev said that Mbappe dreams of a future move to Real Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe is the brightest talent in the world of football right now. The 20-year-old is way above his age group and has already achieved what other footballers can only dream of.
The 2018 World Cup winner came through the ranks of Monaco. He won the Ligue 1 with Monaco in his last season there before initially moving to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain on loan in 2017. He then made the transfer permanent in a €145million deal the following year.
Since then, he has claimed back-to-back Ligue 1 trophies, as well as Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophee des Champions silverware. He scored 39 goals across all competitions in 2018-19 and has already netted nine times for Thomas Tuchel’s PSG this season.
Monaco President Vadim Vasilyev knows Mbappe very well from their time together at Stade Louis II. He revealed that the 2018 World Cup winner will eventually make the move to Real Madrid.
Vasilyev told French outlet Telefoot: “Mbappe has told me of his desire to go to Real Madrid.”
“Why did he not sign at Real? He told me: ‘Vadim, I think it’s too early, I’m Parisian, I do not want to leave my country like that, I want to become a great player here. Real Madrid will wait, that’s what I think’.
I told him, ‘Kylian, you’re right’. He wants to win. And of course, the Champions League must be won for a player like that. If he wins it with Paris, it’s better.”
Vasilyev further added: “They [Real Madrid] will knock on your door. The entire Estadio Santiago Bernabeu will applaud you when you get there. He remains the same person, the same Kylian. It’s just that he has gained importance, power in the global landscape.
I know Cristiano Ronaldo quite well, and he always wants to break all records, go further. Kylian is the same.”
Jose Mourinho has also heaped praise on the 20-year-old by comparing him to the Brazilian Ronaldo. Mourinho told Telefoot: “The only player that comes to my mind and with who I can compare him is Ronaldo. I think they [Mbappe and Ronaldo] are players with unique qualities. If you play against him, he’s scary.”
“I spoke with Kylian for three minutes at the ceremony of the Ballon d’Or. He speaks with everyone with a simplicity … remarkable, classy.”
It seems that the dream of the Bernabeu crowd will finally come true. The galactico status of Real Madrid will return with Hazard and Mbappe leading the line along with the others. Although, Mbappe is under contract until 2022 with PSG and his signature won’t come cheaply. But Real Madrid have all the means to see this move through.
