Samsung to take OLED TVs seriously this time

In a weird way, Samsung for the past few years has not been in favour of OLED TVs surprisingly while LG had plenty of time to capture this market and maintain its dominance. From running anti-OLED campaigns against LG’s OLED TVs to showcasing the burin-in factor associated with OLED panels, Samsung has not been eager to make OLED TVs that much.

However, it makes some of the best OLED displays in the market for smartphones, laptops, tablets and whatnot. Things seem to change as Samsung will launch new OLED TVs at CES 2022, a report coming out of South Korea has stated that these new OLED TVs will be launched in European and North American markets in the first half of 2022.

Obviously, they could launch them in the Asian market as well, however, there is no solid confirmation on this topic as of now. It is being reported that it has completed qualification testing of TVs made using LG Display’s OLED panels.

LG A1, C1 & G1 4K Smart OLED TVs launched in India, starts at ₹1,89,999

Reports even have come up that the South Korean giant is so desperate in launching multiple OLED TVs that its budget ones could use LG’s OLED panels as it won’t have enough time to use Samsung Display’s OLED panels.

While DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultant) has estimated that LG makes around 8 million OLED glass sheets annually, Samsung Display, on the other hand, could indeed make use of LG’s OLED panels, buying 1.5-2 million of those sheets for its own OLED TVs.

However, Samsung will still offer its own flagship 8K MiniLED TVs along with other QLED, MiniLED, OLED, and MicroLED TVs. So, in 2022, Samsung could offer a more widespread lineup with a variety of options for their Smart TVs, preferably we could see them unveiled at CES 2022.
