Crystal Palace have negotiated the signing of Joachim Andersen from Olympique Lyon. The Eagles are reportedly willing to pay a sum around €22 million including add-ons for the central defender.
Andersen was a part of the Fulham squad that got relegated in the 20/21 season of the Premier League. He was on loan with the Cottagers for the season, and was not acquired as a permanent member of the squad.
The player has agreed a five-year contract with Palace, and sees him become the second central defender to be signed this summer for Patrick Viera, following the transfer of Marc Guehi from Chelsea as the new coach continues to plan ahead of the new season.
The centre-back was also a part of the Denmark squad that made it to the semi-finals of the Euros. In total, he has made 8 appearances for the Danish national team, 3 of which came in the European Championships. Andersen has represented FC Twente, Sampdoria and Midtjylland in the past, prior to his switch to Lyon.
Tottenham were also rumoured to be interested in Andersen, but he now returns to the other side of London to become a regular at Selhurst Park instead. The transfer has been given the famous here we go signal by Fabrizio Romano, which means that the deal is as good as done. The transfer insider further adds that the paperwork related to the transfer will be completed in the next few days followed by the official announcement.
