Vaibhav Sooryavanshi: Five Historic Feats of India’s Youngest Cricket Sensation

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has already achieved milestones that would stand out in a much longer cricket career. From becoming the youngest centurion in men’s T20 cricket to hitting 72 sixes in an IPL season, the teenager has delivered far more than one memorable innings.

Here are five remarkable records from his career, with the figures, dates and competition categories explained.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s Records at a Glance

1. Youngest Centurion in Men’s T20 Cricket

On April 28, 2025, Sooryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in men’s T20 cricket, aged just 14 years and 32 days.

Representing Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur, he reached his hundred in 35 deliveries and finished with 101 from 38 balls. His innings included seven fours and 11 sixes.

This was not merely an IPL age record. Guinness World Records recognises the achievement across men’s T20 cricket, making it a milestone beyond the tournament itself.

2. Youngest Centurion in Men’s List A Cricket

Sooryavanshi extended his record-breaking run into senior one-day cricket on December 24, 2025.

Playing for Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Ranchi, he became the youngest centurion in men’s List A cricket at 14 years and 272 days.

He needed only 36 balls to complete his century before finishing with a remarkable 190 from 84 deliveries, including 16 fours and 15 sixes. This was only his seventh List A appearance, underlining how quickly he had made an impact in the format.

3. Highest Individual Score in an Under-19 World Cup Final

On February 6, 2026, Sooryavanshi produced a record-breaking innings for India against England in the men’s Under-19 World Cup final.

His 175 from 80 balls surpassed the previous final benchmark of 111 not out, set by India’s Unmukt Chand against Australia in 2012.

Sooryavanshi reached his century in 55 balls and struck 15 fours and 15 sixes during the innings. The achievement belongs to the tournament’s overall final records, rather than being restricted to performances by Indian batters.

4. Most Sixes in a Single IPL Season

Sooryavanshi’s power-hitting reached another level during IPL 2026, when he finished with 72 sixes for Rajasthan Royals.

That total surpassed Chris Gayle’s previous single-season IPL record of 59 sixes, established in 2012. Sooryavanshi therefore improved the benchmark by 13 maximums.

He also accumulated 776 runs in 16 matches during the campaign. Unlike a record achieved in one extraordinary innings, this milestone reflected his boundary-hitting across an entire season against different bowling attacks.

5. Youngest Batter to Score a Duleep Trophy Half-Century

Sooryavanshi added a red-ball milestone on August 31, 2026, during East Zone’s Duleep Trophy semi-final against Central Zone in Bengaluru.

At 15 years and 157 days, he became the competition’s youngest half-centurion, reaching fifty in 42 balls.

The previous record belonged to Laxman Singh, who achieved the feat at 16 years and 23 days during the 1968–69 season. Sooryavanshi eventually scored 92 from 81 balls. Although he missed a century, the innings still broke an age record that had stood for more than five decades.
