Futurama Season 14 Episode 6 Ending: Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?

Bet you thought “Late Bloomers” was building to Zoidberg finally walking down the aisle. Nope. Futurama season 14 episode 6 pulls off one of its sweetest bait-and-switches yet, and the actual wedding at the end is stranger — and oddly more touching — than anyone expected.

The episode juggles two emotional threads. First: Hermes’s frantic mission to save his father, Badrick, who was reincarnated as a talking coffee plant back in season 12. Second: Dr. Zoidberg reuniting with his old flame Marianne, a romance the season has been teasing since its premiere. Naturally, both stories collide.

The crew rushes Badrick to a botany space station, hoping Marianne’s botanical know-how (and the team’s usual chaos) can save him. There, Badrick strikes up a bond with a massive Corpse Plant — and despite the crew’s best efforts failing to keep him alive in the traditional sense, Hermes pulls off one last Hail Mary. The result? Not a funeral. A wedding — between Badrick and the Corpse Plant.

Meanwhile, Zoidberg and Marianne quietly decide to give their relationship another shot, separate from the plant nuptials stealing the spotlight. It’s classic Futurama — absurd on the surface, genuinely heartfelt underneath.

Why It Works

“Late Bloomers” leans hard into family and love found in unexpected places — themes Futurama has always handled well without losing its trademark weirdness. The coffee-plant wedding could’ve been a throwaway gag, but instead it becomes the episode’s emotional anchor, tying Hermes’s grief and Zoidberg’s second chance into one satisfying finale.
