Huawei just established a new R&D firm, The Huawei Digital Technology Co Ltd. The main priority of this arm of Huawei will be to research and develop new tech relating to electric vehicles, all aspects of them.
The primary goal would be to set up R&D for new energy technologies, energy recovery systems, and electromechanical coupling system development. Huawei has sole control over this firm and has invested nearly Yuan 3 billion($469 million).
Huawei has established the digital technology co to attempt to achieve carbon neutrality. Due to growing concerns regarding the rising impact of global warming caused by carbon emissions across the world, tech-based companies are making it a priority to find sustainable alternatives.
Huawei will also enter the electric cars market upon developing their technology and designs. The demand for electric vehicles has been increasing with countries like Denmark, The Netherlands and UK have pledged to stop the sales of petrol and diesel-powered automobiles by 2030. California has also passed legislation to do so by 2035.
Huawei has been vocal about wanting to enter into the automakers’ space, particularly smart electric cars. It has in the past launched hardware and software for other electric car makers and consumers.
