7 Reality Shows to Binge If You’re Hooked on Lock Upp and Alliance

If your weekends now revolve around prison-style drama, secret alliances, and savage eliminations, congratulations — you’ve officially caught the reality TV bug. Shows like Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa and Alliance are loaded with explosive drama, psychological mind games, and high-stakes survival tactics that keep you glued to the screen long after the episode ends. The good news? Once you’ve devoured these two, there’s a whole world of equally gripping reality TV waiting for you.

The Shows That Started It All

Lock Upp 2, hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, brings in 14 new controversial celebrities placed in a prison-like setup, stripped of every basic luxury. It’s chaos, confinement, and confrontation rolled into one binge-worthy package. Yahoo Sports

Alliance, hosted by Kunal Kemmu, splits 16 celebrities into four teams who go through mental and physical challenges to survive the game. Think strategy, betrayal, and shifting loyalties — exactly the kind of unscripted drama that makes reality TV so addictive. Yahoo Sports

If you love this genre of raw, unfiltered human behavior, here are seven shows that deserve a spot on your watchlist this weekend.

1. Bigg Boss

You simply cannot discuss captive reality formats without starting here. While the television version is iconic, the OTT spin-off is unfiltered, unrestricted, and streams 24/7. Just like Lock Upp, contestants have to survive tasks, avoid weekly evictions, and endure intense public scrutiny to stay in the game. It’s the genre’s granddaddy — and it still delivers. 2. Temptation Island India

Love the manipulative mind games of Alliance? This show takes emotional drama to a whole new level. Real-life couples are separated and placed in villas filled with attractive singles to test their loyalty, turning relationships into the ultimate battleground. It’s messy, dramatic, and impossible to look away from.

3. Playground

If Alliance’s team-based mental and physical stress is your thing, Playground is an underrated gem. It brings together India’s top gaming influencers and creators, housed together and split into teams led by celebrity mentors, blending intense physical and gaming challenges with a captive survival format. A fresh spin on the genre for the gaming generation.

4. Splitsvilla

A true veteran of Indian reality TV, Splitsvilla remains the ultimate playground for those chasing love and money. Contestants must find a connection to survive, but the game keeps throwing twists that force them to dump partners for power. It’s proof that loyalty can expire the moment a better opportunity walks in. Yahoo Sports

5. Roadies

Before Lock Upp made confinement cool, Roadies ruled the genre with aggressive confrontations and vote-outs. Group politics, vote-out alliances, and intense physical tasks define this legendary travel-survival show, built entirely on cutthroat strategy and high adrenaline. It’s the OG strategy show that paved the way for everything that followed.

6. Rise and Fall

If you’re drawn to Lock Upp’s power dynamics between the haves and have-nots, this is unmissable. Its first season, hosted by Ashneer Grover, functions as a social experiment focusing purely on status, power, and class, with 16 high-profile contestants split into two groups — the rulers and the workers. It’s a sharp commentary on privilege disguised as entertainment. Yahoo Sports

7. The Traitors India

For fans who live for secret conversations and backdoor whispers like in Alliance, this is your next obsession. The Traitors India showcases a group of celebrities at a remote palace where a select few are secretly designated as Traitors, while the rest remain innocent. Every night, the Traitors meet in secret to eliminate the innocents, who must rely on trust, intuition, and manipulation to find them. It’s less about brute strength and more about reading people — arguably the smartest game on this list. Yahoo Sports

Why These Shows Hit the Same Nerve

What ties all seven together is the same winning formula as Lock Upp and Alliance: real people, unscripted reactions, and the constant tension between trust and betrayal. Whether it’s physical survival, romantic loyalty, or psychological warfare, each show taps into something deeply human — our fascination with watching strategy and emotion collide under pressure.
