‘Rick and Morty’ Episode 6 Goes Full David Lynch, and Rick’s Stomach Is Already Mad About It

Just when you thought the multiverse couldn’t get weirder, Rick and Morty Season 9 is leaning into something stranger: a David Lynch homage. Episode 6, titled “Erickerhead,” marks the season’s halfway point — and it’s bringing chaos disguised as an all-you-can-eat buffet.

When Does Episode 6 Air?

Episode 6 premieres on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 11 PM ET/PT on Adult Swim in the U.S. It then becomes available on HBO Max and Hulu the following day for streaming.

Rick and Morty: Overview

A Quick Recap: What Happened Last Episode?

Episode 5, “Jer Bud,” brought back fan-favorite Snowball after over a decade away, pulling Morty into a brewing conflict between dogs and an oppressed group called the Mancores. Meanwhile, Jerry accidentally became infested with anxiety-fueled “Worry Worms” before a job interview — leading to chaos, a near plane crash, and somehow, a new job for Jerry anyway.

What’s “Erickerhead” Actually About?

The title is a clear nod to David Lynch’s surrealist classic Eraserhead, and the official teaser leans into that strangeness with a cryptic line: “Rick’s stomach is mad, broh. But it’s all-you-can-eat-and-drink here, broh.”

Early previews show Rick, Morty, and Summer visiting an alien beer garden, with Rick proudly declaring they’ve found paradise — bottomless alien beer included. Naturally, given the show’s track record, that setting is almost certainly about to become the source of total disaster.

Some reports suggest the episode may also deal with the fallout of a Rick relapse, leaving the Smith family’s safety systems compromised at the worst possible time.

Why the Snowball Story Matters

Series creator Dan Harmon recently explained that bringing back Snowball wasn’t random — the character’s original Season 1 appearance ended with a deliberate meta-nod toward a possible future storyline. Nearly a decade later, the writers finally followed through.

This kind of long-game continuity is part of what’s kept the show culturally relevant for so long, fitting into the broader legacy of adult animation as a genre capable of blending absurdist comedy with surprisingly intricate long-term storytelling.

Final Thoughts

With four episodes left after this one, Season 9 is entering territory where standalone chaos and deeper character fallout — especially around Rick’s instability — are likely to start colliding. “Erickerhead” looks like a strange, important pivot point.
